Victoria Mary Butler

Obituary (courtesy of Charlie Burkhardt; exact source unknown)
Victoria Butler Carpenter
In such an hour as we knoweth not, the Son of Man
cometh, layeth his pallid hand upon our beloved and says:
"Come." It was so in the stillnessof the night, when the Death
Angel entered into the home of Millroy Carpenter and called
away the beloved wife and mother.
Victoria Butler Carpenter, deceased, a daughter of John
and Minnie Butler, was born October 1, 1902, being at the
time of her death 33 years, 11 months and 8 days of age.
She was united in marriage with Millroy Carpenter,
November 3, 1920. To this happy union were born; two sons.
Her mother and one sister preceded her to the Great Beyond.
She had been ill for the past year, but all that physicians
with medical skill and loving hands could do, was done, but to
no avail and her spirit took its flight back to God who gave it.
But we cannot call her back. Her suffering is over, and her
spirit has gone out of her tired body to be forever with the Lord.
Mrs. Carpenter was a woman of many fine qualities, was
a highly esteamed citizen and was alreadys ready to lend a
helping hand in time ofneed or to help wait upon the sick.
None knew her but to love her.
None spoke of her but to praise.
She will be sadly missed in the house and throughout the
community. The home has lost a loving wife and mother, the
community, a friend and neighbor.
She bore her suffering gently. Never murmuring nor
complaining. Shewas a consistent member of the Catholic
Church and attended as long asher health permitted her
to do so.
She leaves to mour her sad departure: a husband;
two sons, Bernardand Paul; her father and five brothers,
namely: Clemence Butler, of Woodsfield Route 3; Raphael,
Francis, Paul and Ronald, all of the home;besides a host of
relatives and friends who morn her passing.
On Thursday morning at 9:00 o'clock funeral services
were held in St.John's Catholic Church at Miltonsburg,
conducted by her pastor, Rev.George Dreacher, amid a
crowded church of sorrowing friends and burialwas made
in the church cemetery.
