WOODSFIELD - On Saturday morning February 19 at St. Sylvester’s
Catholic church Miss Bernadine Crum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Urban Crum
of Route 4 Woodsfield became the bride of John Frederick Burkhart, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Edward Burkhart of Woodsfield. Rt. Rev. Msgr. J. G. Mehler
officiated at the Nuptial High Mass. Mrs. Ruth Huth presided at the organ and
Mrs. Mildred and Marie Schumacher and Mrs. Harold Smithberger sang appro-
priate numbers. Miss Gertrude Nauer was maid of honor and Richard Nauer
served as best man. Usherettes were Miss Joanne Nalley and Miss Jane Ludwig.
Immediately after the ceremony, a reception was held at the Columbia hotel. The
bride is a graduate of the Woodsfield high school, class of 1948 and for the past
eight months has been employed as a stenographer at the State Bureau of Unem-
ployment Compensation in Columbus. The bridegroom attended Woodsfield high
school and served in the army for three years. They will reside in Wadsworth where
he is employed.

Obituary source--Akron Beacon Journal Akron, Ohio; Published--February 1998 RITTMAN -- Bernadine D. ``Bernie'' Burkhart, 68, of Rittman, died February 18,
1998, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital. She was born in Woodsfield and lived in Rittman since 1949. She was a member
of St. Anne Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, John F.; sons, David (Lori) Burkhart of Rittman
and Darrell Burkhart of Bluebell, Pa.; daughters, Karen Jordon of Rittman and Carol
(Steven) Bozsik of Wadsworth; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brothers,
Don Crum of Tallmadge and Clarence Crum of Woodsfield; and sister, Arlene Christ-
man of Akron. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church, with Rev.
Fr. Phil P. Pritt officiating. Interment at Rittman Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 a
nd 7 to 9 p.m. today at Gillman Funeral Home, with a wake service at 8:30 p.m. Memorial

Arlene G. Crum

Arlene G. Christman, 81, of Akron, passed away December 8, 2007 at her residence.
She was born July 4, 1926 in Woodsfield, Ohio to the late Urban and Eloise Crum and resided in Akron for over 50 years. Arlene was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Akron and was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her sister, Bernadine Burkhart.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Christman of Akron; daughter, Donna Kinser (Harry) of Opelika, Ala.; son, Nelson Christman (Linda) of Tallmadge; grandchildren, Elaine Penn (Larry) of Uniontown, Michael Kinser (Amber) of Auburn, Ala., Jason Kinser of Opelika, Ala., Jennifer Christman (Roy) of Akron, John Christman (Sarah) of Tallmadge and Jill Wegner (Jonathan) of Tallmadge; great-grandchildren, Trevor Potts of N.C., Chandler McCoy of Auburn, Ala., Malorie Bates of Akron, Cale Kinser of Auburn, Ala., Ally Kinser of Opelika, Ala. and Joshua Wegner of Tallmadge; brothers, Donald Crum (Bonnie) of Tallmadge and Clarence Crum (Opal) of Woodsfield; brother-in-law, John Burkhart of Rittman; special close friends, Ann Drechsler and Phyllis Joel.

Ida Rozella Paulus

Ida Paulus Christman’s obituary was published in the Zanesville Signal on 27 Jan 1944:
WOODSFIELD - Mrs. Ida Paulus Christman died at the home of her son, Dr. Nova A. Christman Wednesday morning at 10:30 o’clock, following a long illness. The body was removed to the Bauer & Turner funeral home and will remain there where short funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock followed by additional rites at St. Paul’s Evangelical and Reformed church of which she was a member. Rev. Trogler will officiate and burial will be made in the Oaklawn cemetery.
She is survivied by her husband Louis P. Christman, and five sons and one daughter Dr. Christman in whose home she died, Walter and Roy of near Woodsfield, and Clayton, John and Mrs. Freda Hamilton of the home, near Woodsfield. Also surviving are her father, P. A. Paulus of Woodsfield, Route 3 and five brothers and two sisters, Asher Paulus of Woodsfield, Sam and Chester of Woodsfield, Route 3, Herbert of Cleveland and John of Canton, Mrs. Ethel Christman of near Woodsfield, and Mrs. Edna Niesz of Woodsfield. Mrs. Christman was born near here and spent her entire life in this community.
