several days visiting here.


Clara Elizabeth Burkhart

Obituary (from Betty Hartley):
Clara E. Wahl, 84, of 5240 Yellowwood Drive, Columbus, IN, formerly
of Woodsfield, died July 16,, in Columbus,Indiana. She was born in Brnesville
November 19, 1902, a daughter of the late John W. and Ella Perry Burkhart.
She was married June 14, 1922 to Roman P. Wahl who passed away on July
27, 1985. She was a member of St. Columba Roman Catholic Church, Columbus,
IN and also a member of the Altar Society at St. Sylvester's, Woodsfield.
Surviving are four daughters: Elizabeth Brooks, Dayton; Ruth E. Russell,
Columbus, IN; Kathleen Bruder, Allentown, Pa: Estellla Bellottee, Magnolia;
seven grandchildren; on great granddaughter; one brother, Vernon Burkhart,
Lake Placid, FL.
Services were July 18 at ll a.m. at St. Sylvester's Catholic Church, Woodsfield,
with Father George Adams officiating. Burial in the church cemetery


Ashton John Weisend

Obituary:
ZANESVILLE - Ashton J. Weisend, 89, of Zanesville, died
at 9:44 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at Genesis Hospice, Morrison
House, after a short illness.
He was born Thursday, May 25, 1916, in East Liverpool, the
son of Nicholas P.and Marcella A. Nauer Weisend. He was a
member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and retired from
Matesich Distributing in May 1981 as a sales represenative.
He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council
505, American Legion Zanesville Post 29 and Teamsters Re-
tiree Club. He also served his country as an Army veteran of
World War II.
He is survived by his wife Jane I. McCoy Weisend of the
home, whom he married Saturday,Aug. 28, 1943; a daughter,
Patricia (Charles) Perone of Zanesville; a son, Tom (Valerie)
Weisend of Westerville; five grandchildren, Pam Perone,
John (Kris) Perone, Elizabeth (Craig) Mirgon, Nicholas and
Kira Weisend; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert
Weisend ofWoodsfield and Norbert Weisend of Meridian,
Idaho; five sisters, Elizabeth Ramsey of Zanesville, Mildred
Carpenter of Delaware, Rose Blackburn of Houston, Texas,
Catherine Alvis of Houston, Texas and Mary Ritterbeck of
Akron.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
two brothers; and a sister.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, at
the Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave., with
Christian Vigil services at 3 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday,
Nov. 7, 2005, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Father
Robert Kitsmiller as celebrant. Burial with military honors
will be at Mount Olive Cemetery.

WOODSFIELD - Mrs. Lyle Weisend of the Lewisville road was hostess to
the members of the Dopey Dozen club at her home today. The day was spent
informally. Mrs. Weisend’s guests were Mrs. Arthur Kuhn, Mrs. Okey Ruble,
Mrs. Nick Marceralli, Mrs. Leander Kuhn, Mrs. Harmon Scoot, Mrs. Leland
Jackson, Mrs. Ward Bishop, Mrs. Raymond Carpenter, Mrs. Delores Burkhart,
and Mrs. Ralph Carpenter.

Marie Julia McCormick

Obituary (from Betty Hartley):
Marie J. Schumacher, 88, of Woodsfield, died
Saturday at the Woodsfield Care Center. She was born
May 8, 1895 at Franklin, PA., a daughter of the late John
and Rachel McCormack. She was a member of the St.
Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield.
She was preceded in death by her first husband,
Sylvester Brubach in 1959; her second husband Leo Schu-
macher in 1969.
Surviving are four step daughters, Sister Evelyn
Ann of Manitowic, Wis., Mrs. Lucien (Lucille) Block of
Cincinnati, Mrs. Frank ( Mary) Jennings of Charleston, WV,
and Mrs. Paul (Evelyn) King of Beverly; four stepsons,
Lawrence Schumacher of St. Clairsville, Charles Schu-
macher of Rayland, William and Norbert Schumacher,
both of Woodsfield; 39 step grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Bauer-Turner
Funeral Home, Woodsfield 7 to 9 today and 2 to 9 Tuesday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wed-
nesday at the St. Sylvester Catholic Church with Monsignor
Robert A. Brown the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Sylvester
Church Cemetery, Woodsfield. Rosary devotions will be
recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.


Charles Schumacher

Obituary:
Charles Schumacher, aged 66 years, died at his home on
Maple Avenue Tuesday night, April 18, 1916. Mr. Schumacher
had been in bad health with dropsy and heart trouble for some
time. He was born in Bavaria, Germany, in 1850, and at the
age of five years came to this country with his parents and ever
since has resided in this County.
In 1878 he was united in marriage to Margaret Glaser. He
leaves a wife and five children - Clement, Sylvester, Margaret
Riesbeck, Leo and Mary Schumacher and seven brothers.
Deceased was a member of the Catholic Church and an upright
citizen. He resided in this community all his life. The funeral will
take place at the Catholic Church Saturday morning at 9:30 stan-
dard time with the interment being in the Church cemetery.
Reverend Francis Seeber will officiate.
