Arthur Stephen Devol

The following note was published in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 8 Apr 1950:
Stephen Devol, student at Dayton university, is spending the spring vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Devol of 791 St. Louis avenue.


Arthur Burkhart Devol

The obituary of Arthur B. DeVol was published in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 17 Aug 1954:
ARTHUR B. DeVOL TAKEN FROM LIFE
Arthur B. DeVol, 54, vice-president and superintendent of the Zanesville Stoneware company, died at his home, 751 St. Louis avenue, at 4 a.m. Monday following a five-month illness of cancer. He had been critically ill six weeks.
Mr. DeVol was born July 26, 1900, a son of Edward Milton and Catherine Burkhart DeVol. He was a graduate of St. Thomas high school and Ohio State university.
For 16 years, he served as ceramic engineer and assistant to his father in the operation of the Stoneware firm. When his father died in 1940, he became vice president and superintendent.
He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic church, the Holy Name society and Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his mother, who resides at 724 Brighton boulevard; his widow, Marie; four daughters, Mrs. William Adams III of Wabash avenue, Mrs. David Hoene and Miss Kay DeVol of Dayton, Miss Betsy DeVol of the home; three sons, A. Stephen DeVol, with the Air Force at Des Plaines, Ill., and Thomas and Vincent DeVol of the home; a brother, Alfred M. DeVol of Riverside drive and two grandchildren.
The body will be removed to the Hillis Funeral Home but will be taken to the residence Tuesday morning, where it will remain until time for funeral services at 10 o’clock Thursday morning at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be in Mount Olive.
The Knights of Columbus will recite the Rosary at the family home at 8 o’clock this evening.
