Michael N. Burkhart

Prior to his wife's death, Mike's family lived in Woodsfield, Monroe County, Ohio. Mike and his brother Joe ran a grocery store in Byesville, Guernsey County, Ohio until it was destroyed by fire. The brothers later moved to Stow, Summit County, Ohio.

Mike Burkhart worked in the Maintenance Department of the Twin Coach Co. in Kent, Ohio.

Eighty year old Michael Burkhart died four days after a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The informant for his death certificate was his daughter, Mrs. Charles Lancaster.


Cecelia T. Ranker

Celia Burkhart's death certificate states that labor was induced after five months gestion. Celia suffered from "vomiting of pregnancy" for four months prior to her death.


Vincent James Stephen

In 1900, Vincent Stephen and his wife Minnie (26) rented a farm in Londonderry Twp., Guernsey County, Ohio. They lived there with their three children, Stella B. (6), John R. (4) and Dewey (2). Vincent is the only person on that page of the census for whom age and date of birth are blank. Vincent and his parents were born in Ohio.

At the time of the 1910 census, Vincent (40) and Mary (37) Stephen owned a farm in Malaga Twp., Monroe County, Ohio with their children Stella (16), John (14), Dewey (12), Fay (8), May (8), and Luther (6). Adjacent farms in the census belonged to John G. Swallie and Jacob Burkhart.


Mary Philomena Burkhart

According to the 1910 census, all six of Mary (Burkhart) Stephen's children were living.


John R. Stephen

John R. Stephen was married at the time of his death. His wife's name is not known.


Thomas Burkhart

In 1930, Thomas (33) and Mary F. (30) Burkhart rented a home in Rush Twp., Tuscarawas County, Ohio for $10 a month. There were no children in the household. Thomas worked as a coal miner.


Mary Frances Bahmer

Mary Burkhart was a resident of Harrison County, Ohio at the time of her death.


Earl Wilbert Haught

On Jun 5, 1917, 21 year old self-employed unmarried farmer Wilbert Earl Haught of Jacobsburg, Belmont County, Ohio filled out a US military draft registration card. He stated that he was born on 28 Feb 1896 in Mannington, W.Va. Wilbert was described as being tall and stout with blue eyes and dark brown hair. He sought to claim an exemption on the grounds of "physical disability" but that request was denied. His signature was "Wilbert Earl Haught."

He enlisted in the Army on 28 May 1918 under the name Earl W. Haught. His service record states:
25 Co 2 Road Regiment Cp Johnston Fla to 11 Aug 1918; Supply Company 327 Quartermaster Corps to Discharge Private, first class 21 Aug 1918. American Expeditionary Forces 8 Sept 1918 to 7 July 1919. Honorable discharge 17 July 1919.

In 1942, 46 year old Earl Wilbert Haught filled out an US military draft registration card. He stated that he lived "1 mile east of Jacobsburg, Belmont [Co.], Ohio. His next of kin was Tille Katherine Haught (no address given). Earl was employed by the Key Ridge Board of Education in Bellaire, Belmont County, Ohio. Earl was described as being 5 '9", 158 lbs, with blue eyes and brown hair.


Matilda Catherine Burkhart

Tillie Haught's Social Security number was issued in 1969 in North Carolina or West Virginia.


Clara Laura Burkhart

Clara Burkhart Shaw, a 43 year old widow, was a resident of Rittman, Wayne County, Ohio at the time of her death.


Grace Burkhart

Grace Burkhart Adkins’ obituary was published in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 21 Dec 1974:
BETHESDA - Mrs. Grace B. Adkins, 55, of Bethesda Route 1 died at 7 a.m. Wednesday in Barnesville Hospital following an illness. She was born Jan 24, 1919 at Beallsville.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; three daughters, Mrs. Juanita Saffell of Hendrysburg, Mrs. Elaine Devine of Quaker City and Miss Janet Adkins of the home; a son, Charles, who is declared missing in action in Vietnam; a granddaughter; a sister, Mrs. Earl Haught of Jacobsburg; two brothers, Herman and Clyde Burkart of Rittman.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home here where services will be held 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.


Charles Leroy Adkins

Bud Adkins was declared missing in action in Vietnam following a helicopter crash on 2 Feb 1967. In 1972, his father identifed Bud as one of hundreds of POWs in an 8 mm filmstrip shown to the Adkins family by the US Army. For details, see http://www.taskforceomegainc.org/a006.html
