FIREMEN CALLED TUESDAY TO WILLIAM BROOKS RESIDENCE BY SMALL BLAZE
WOODSFIELD, O., Jan 5 - The Woodsfield fire department
was called to the William Brooks residence on Oaklawn avenue
on Tuesday about 10:30 o’clock. A small blaze was discovered
in the bath room. The boys responded in their usual quick manner
and the flames were soon extinguished. The origin of the fire is
not known.
Sources conflict on marital status. According to Hartley, Gilbert Burkhart was married to Thelma Judd in 1923. However, his death certificate states Gilbert was single (not married, widowed or divorced). In the 1930 census, 29 year old Gilbert, who lived with his parents, was divorced. Gilbert was not employed in 1930 according to the census.
Death certificate states that 40 year old Gilbert Burkhart was retired. Erysipelas (from the Greek "red skin") is an acute streptococcal infection of the skin and underlying fat tissue.
