In 1910, Thomas McDougal (36) and his wife Lucy (26) owned a home on Market Street in Clarington, Salem Twp., Monroe County, Ohio with their four children, Howard (8), Vera (5), Thomas (3) and Loucille (1). Only Howard attended school. The couple had been married for eight years. Lucy had given birth to four children, all of whom were still living. Thomas was employed as a teamster in the hauling trade. Thomas and his mother were born in Ohio, his father was born in the "United States."

At the time of the 1920 census, Thomas (45) and Lucy (38) McDougal rented a farm in Salem Twp., Monroe County, Ohio. Living with them were their seven children, Howard (16), Vera (14), Thomas (12), Lucille (10), George (8), Benice (5), and Arnold (3 yrs, 6 mos.). Vera, Thomas, Lucille, and George attended school. This census states that both of Thomas' parents were born in Ohio.

In 1930, Thomas J. and Lucy E. McDougal still rented a farm in Salem Twp. They lived with their children, Thomas H. (23), Lucille L. (21), George W. (18), Bernice J. (15), Arnold S. (12), Clara C. George, Bernice, and Arnold attended school.

Lucy E. Burkhart

Records conflict on date of death: Researcher Betty Hartley gives 1921 as year of death, but Lucy (wife of Thomas McDougal) appears in the 1930 census.
