Donald Lee Noll

The following birth announcement appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on Oct 8, 1932 Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Noll announced the birth of a
son, at their home near Fulda, Thursday, October 6th.
Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Noll, and Mr. and Mrs. George
Gerst of the Fulda vicinity are grandparents to the new
arrival.

The article is believed to contain an error. It is thought that the father of the newborn is Clyde Noll (son of Ambrose). That would make the child Donald Lee Noll, not Thomas Earl Noll. Clyde Noll lived his entire life in Noble county, and was married to a daughter of George Gerst.

The other Ambrose Noll (Ambrose Freeman Noll, the father of Thomas Earl Noll) moved to Allegheny County prior to 1930. He had two wives, neither of whom was a Gerst.

Elmer A. Warner

The following article appeared on pg 3 of the Zanesville Signal on 6 Sep 1944.

The excellent work being done by the military police companies at Flying Fortress
stations in England is one of the vital contributions to the successful bombing assault
on the Germans. A member of the M. P. company at a veteran B-17 base is Pvt. 1/c
Elmer A. Warner, 34, son of Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Warner of 1137 Lafayette street.
Pfc. Warner’s job is not what the current crop of radio comics would have the average
person believe. Mostly it is the tiring unpublicized, though essential, work of standing
guard at gates to insure the proper functioning of defense and security plans, acting as
guard of honor for important visitors, guarding crashed aircraft, patrolling roads, checking
identity cards and assisting in investigation of any violations. Also the M.P. is the local
information bureau with their primary function being to help soldiers keep out of trouble
rather than look for petty violations.
Prior to entering the army on Oct. 10, 1942, Pfc. Warner was a tree surgeon, and has
been serving overseas since June 6, 1943.

The following article appeared in the Zanesville Signal on Mar 13, 1950:
MAN SLUGGED
Elmer Warner of 1137 Lafayette street, reported to police yesterday that he had
been slugged by three teenage youths early Sunday morning as he was entering
his automobile parked at Market street and the $28 was taken from his billfold.
