Jewel Waneda Moore

Jewel Waneda Powell, age 90, of Mt. Ephraim, Ohio, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell, Ohio. She was born December 22, 1916, in Mt. Ephraim, daughter of the late Piercan and Cora Shafer Moore. She was a graduate of Mt. Ephraim High School, and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, and a fifty year member of the Eastern Star Amazon Chapter #30. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Powell, whom she married June 22, 1946, and who died February 6, 1998; three sisters, Mary Secrest, Helen Miley, and Alice Moore; and two brothers, Oral and Rex Moore. Surviving are three daughters, Evelyn J. Racey, Janet Ann (Jerry) Minyo, and Marilyn J. (Joe) Schockling, all of Caldwell; five grandchildren, Don and Jaymie McElroy Racey of Pittsburgh, Jean Ann (Ric) Wilson of Byesville, Christina (Bill) Singer and Jennifer (Dale) Hayes, both of Caldwell, and Matthew (Kathy) Schockling of Pleasant City; five great-grandchildren, Hannah and Haleigh Wilson, Cara Singer, Mikayla Schockling, and Noah Singer; one step-grandson, Trevor Hayes; and a sister-in-law, Sally Moore of Barnesville. Friends may call Thursday, November 15, 2007, from 3-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where Eastern Star services will be observed at 8PM. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 16th at 1PM at Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Gruver officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Ephraim Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Ephraim United Methodist Church, 203 High Street, Senecaville, Ohio, 43780.

OLIVER RELEASED
CALDWELL -- Charles Oliver of Belmont county, who has
been held in the Noble county jail since Aug. 10, charged with
a land scheme fraud, has been released on a court order.
According to local officials, a satisfactory agreement had
been reached between oliver and Dan Pfeffer of Beaver town-
ship, who had filed charges against Oliver.
