Anthony Ambrose Arnold

Anthony Ambrose "Tony" Arnold, 79, of Marietta died at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at his residence. He was born in Churchtown on Jan. 9, 1927, to John H. and Virginia Schilling Arnold. Tony was in the Army during World War II, serving in Okinawa from Oct. 9, 1945, to Oct. 16, 1946. He was a partner of Arnold?s Repair Shop and had also worked for B.F. Goodrich from 1948 to 1951. Tony was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 64 and the VFW Post 5108. He is survived by his wife, Leora M. Huck Arnold, whom he married June 13, 1950; one son, Terry Arnold (Connie) of Waterford; four daughters, Tonia Lang of Marietta, Cheryl Dunn (Rick) of Parkersburg, Kim Lauzau (Dave) of Pickerington, Ohio, and Beth Brooks (Jeff) of Millersport, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Michele and Brian Lang, Danette Schaad, Jacob Arnold, Shaun and Marie Dunn, James, Michael, Alyssa and Kevin Lauzau, and Greg and Sara Brooks; one great-granddaughter, Addison Schaad; four sisters, Sister Maria of Columbus, Mary Lou Huck (John) of Vincent, Irene Lang of Waterford and Allene Huck (Vincent) of Marietta; one brother, James Arnold (Maglena) of Marietta; three sisters-in-law, Mildred, Catherine and Lillian Arnold; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John "Bill," George and Jerry Arnold; a sister, Bertha Ledger; and two grandchildren, Anthony and Johanna Arnold. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Msgr. John Michael Campbell celebrating. Entombment will follow in East Lawn Mausoleum, with full military rites being observed. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. A Vigil service will be 3 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Washington County Home Nursing Service and Hospice or St. Mary Catholic Church, addresses are available at the funeral home.
