Fredrick Andrew Orr

Fred Orr’s obituary appeared in the Zanesville Signal on 11 Sep 1944:
CALDWELL - Fred Andrew Orr, 59, well known resident of
the Olive community, died Saturday at 6:25 a.m. at the home
of his daughter, Mrs. Elvin Sutherland in Maple Heights.
He was a son of the late Cooley Orr and Sarah Sands Orr,
and was born in West Virginia. When a child, he came with his
parents to Carlisle and has since then resided in Noble County.
He was a member of Mt. Tabor Methodist church.
Surviving are his widow, Effie Warfield Orr; two sons, Cpl.
Charles E. Orr, who is in service overseas; Pvt. Frank Walton
Orr, located at Camp Croft, S.C., four daughters, Mrs. Sutherland
at whose home he died, Mrs. Emil Archer and Mrs. Harry Hanes
of Maple Heights, and Miss Florence Orr who is serving in the
WACs located at Des Moines, Ia. Two children are deceased.
There are nine grandchildren.
The brothers and sisters are: C. W. Orr, Steubenville, a half-
brother, Rev. Bert Orr of Summerfield, and a half-sister, Mrs.
Grace Love of Summerfield.
The body was removed to the McVay Schilling funeral home
in Caldwell, and returned to the home in Maple Heights, Sunday.
Last rites were held at the Mt. Tabor church this afternoon with
Rev. O.L. Orr officiating, followed by burial in Mt. Tabor cemetery.

Fred Orr's death certificate gives his birthplace as "Washington Co., W. Va.," however there is no Washington County in West Virginia.

The complete cause of death was "acute cardiac dilation followed by acute carduac insufficiency, due to sun stroke due to overexertion in extreme heat."


Betty L. Archer

A note in the Society Column of the Zanesville Signal on 19 May 1937 noted that Mr. and Mrs. Emil Archer and daughter Betty of Caldwell were guests at a birthday party for Blaine McCormick, age 53.

From the Zanesville Signal, 23 Jun 1952:
CALDWELL - Miss Betty Archer has accepted a position in the offices of Columbus Bolt and Forge company, Columbus. She assumed her duties last Monday morning. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Archer of Caldwell.

Engagement announcement from the Zanesville Times Recorder, 23 Oct 1952:
BETTY ARCHER IS BRIDE-ELECT
Mr. and Mrs. Emil Archer of Caldwell announce the engagement
of their daughter, Betty, to Blaine Love, son of Mrs. Madge Love of
South Olive.
Miss Archer is a graduate of Caldwell high school. Mr. Love is a
graduate of Dexter City high school and is employed by the Standard
Oil service station in Caldwell. He is a veteran of World War II.
No wedding date has been set.
