Walter O. Rorick

In 1930, Walter O. Rorick (37) and his wife Pearl H. (33) owned a home worth $3500 at 412 White Ave. in Compton, Los Angeles County, California. Living with them were their children, Walter A. (13) and Elizabeth J. (10). Both children attended school. According the the census, the couple had been married in about 1914. Everyone in the household was a native of Ohio except young Walter, who was born in New Mexico. Pearl's mother was from Germany; her father from Ohio. Walter Sr. worked as a boiler inspector for an oil refinery.


Homer Victor Rorick

On June 5, 1918, 21 year old, unmarried, Homer Victor Rorick (dob: July 1, 1895; pob: Canton, Ohio) of 1619 Housel St., canton, Ohio registered for the military draft. According to his draft registration card he was employed by the Republic Stamping Comapny, Canton, Ohio. His physical description is given as tall, stout, blue eyes and light hair.

Homer Rorick of 1619 Hansel St., SE., Canton, O. served in the U.S. Army during the first World War. Training Detachment Valparaiso Ind to 28 May 1918; Training Detachment Blacksburg Va to 27 July 1918; Orders Training Camp Cp Hancock Ga to 11 Aug 1918; 8 Heavy Mobile Ordnance Repair Shop to Discharge Private American Expeditionary Forces 26 Sept 1918 to 17 March 1919. Honorable discharge 18 Apr 1919.

At the time of the 1930 census, Homer and his family lived with his mother at 331 6th St. SW in Canton, Ohio. Homer paid his mother $25 a month rent. His family consisted of his wife Grace (34) and children Russel (15) and Gloria Ann (1). Russel attended school. Homer Homer was employed as a pressman in an enameling factory. Everyone in the home was a native of Ohio. Grace's parents were German. According to the census, Homer and Grace had been married about 7 years. It is unclear how 15-year-old Russel fits into the picture.

On April 27, 1942 Homer Victor Rorick (46, dob: July 1, 1895; pob: Canton, Ohio) of 331 Sixth St. S.W., Canton, Ohio registered for the military draft. According to his draft registration card, the person who would always know his address was Carl D. Rorick, 2024 Fourth St. N.W., Canton. He was employed by the Republic Stamping and Enameling Co., Canton. His physical description is given as Height: 6'4"; weight: 235#; eyes: blue; hair: brown; complexion: light. His two middle fingers of his right hand were missing and the little finger and the index finger of the same hand were cut off at the first joint.

Homer V. Rorick was married at the time of his death.
