Fred Charles Strahl Jr.

The following note appeared in the San Antonio [TX] Express on 24 Dec 1944, accompanied by photos of the two brothers:
BROTHERS MEET IN NAPLES
Cpl. Harry Strahl, 591st Engineers-Boat Regiment, stationed in
Naples, met his brother, Staff Sgt. Fred C. Strahl, radio gunner 15th
Airforce, stationed in central Italy, in Naples for the first time in five
and one-half years. Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Strahl, St., live
in Iroquois, Ill. Fred’s wife, Mrs. Henrietta Bea Strahl, lives at 815
Kayton Ave. They have also another brother, Pfc. Joe J. Strahl,
Oceanside, Calif.


Social Security number issued in Texas prior to 1951.

Called Mary R. in the 1920 census, but Rosemary in the 1930 census.


J. W. McCarty

Obituary of J. W. McCarty from the San Antonio [TX] Express on 23 Jun 1950
Funeral services for J. W. McCarty, 72, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zizik-Kearns funeral home. Interment will be in San Jose Burial Park.
A native of Newton County, Ind., McCarty had lived in San Antonio for the past 14 years. He died in a local hospital Wednesday. McCarty, manager of John Deere Plow Co., has been employed with the company for 35 years.
Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Ednah F. McCarty; daughter Mrs. Fred C. Strahl; brother, S. B. McCarty, Gulfport, Miss.
