Henry Joseph Kinnen

On June 5, 1917, Henry Joseph Kinnen (27, dob: May 7, 1890, pob: Guysville, Ohio) of RFD#2, Summerfield, Ohio registered for the military draft. According to his draft registration card, he was married; had two children and was employed by his father as a farmer in summerfield, Ohio. His physical description is given as tall, medium build, light blue eyes and light hair.

Mr. and Mrs. Dora Warner and little sons, Edwin and Walter spent one day last week at Henry Kinnen's.

Another note from the 15 Jan 1919 issue of the Republican Journal:
The following persons spent Sunday at Dora Warner's: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kinnen, Catherine Sorg, Bernetta and Beulah Kinnen, Clement Smith, Clyde and Edward Schehl, Nicholas Sorg, Clarence Schwallie, George Kinnen, Clarence Thompson and Bede Crum.

Henry and Lena raised their family on a farm in Carlisle. Later, they lived in Caldwell.

In 1920, 29 year old farmer Henry Kinnen lived with his wife Lena (27) on a farm they owned in Stock Twp., Noble Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children Bernetta (4 yrs ? mos),bulah (2 yrs 11 mos), and Gladys (7 mos). All members of the household were born in Ohio as were Henry's mother and Lena's parents. Henry's father was born in West Virginia.
In 1930, Henry J. Kinnen (39) owned a farm next to that of his parents in Stock Twp., Noble County, Ohio. Living in the household were his wife Lena (37), and children Brunette M. (14), Buelah E. (13), Gladys J. (11), and twins Gilbert B. (9) and Wilbert G. (9). All of the children attended school.

On April 27, 1942 Henry J. Kinnen (51, dob: May 7, 1890, pob: Noble [Co.], Ohiio) of R1, Caldwell, Ohio registered for the military draft. Accroding to his draft registration card the person who would always know his address was Lena Kinnen. He was self-employed [farmer] in Stock Twp., Noble Co., Ohio. His physical description is given as height: 5'10", weight: 160#, eyes: blue, hair: brown, complexion: light.


Lena Crum

Lena Crum Kinnen's obituary appeared in The Zanesville Times Recorder (pg 6 B) on 31 Oct 1960:

Mrs. Lena Kinnen, 68, of Caldwell died Sunday morning [30 Oct 1960] at
Samaritan Hospital following a lingering illness. She was born in Noble County
on Jun 22, 1892, the daughter of Lawrence and Margaret Ritterbeck Crum, and
was a lifelong resident of the county. She was a member of St. Philomena Catholic
Church at Caldwell.
Surviving are her husband, Henry, twin sons, Wilbert and Gilbert, both of
Caldwell; three daughters, Mrs. Bernetta Brown of Canton, Mrs. Beulah Hill of
Ava Route 1, and Mrs. Gladys Doyle of Massillon; 13 grandchildren; five great-
grandchildren and four sisters, Mrs. Katherine Schwallie of North Canton, Mrs.
Marie Noll of Zanesville, Mrs. Clara Smithberger of near lower Salem, and Mrs.
Rose Lori of Johnsonville, Ill.
The body was take to Estadt Funeral Home here where the Rosary will be recited
Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. Requiem High Mass will be sung at 9:30 a.m. at St. Philomena
Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Fr. Stephen J. Pekalla, the Rev., Fr. Joseph Wargo and the Rev. Fr. J. J. Donaldson. Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery here.

Gilbert Kinnen never married.

Relationship between Charles Hill and parents is not proven.


Delbert Felix Crum

Obituary:

Delbert F. Crum, age 93, of Fulda, Ohio, died Friday, January 16, 2009, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 5, 1915, son of the late Lawrence and Armelia Dimmerling Crum. He lived all of his life in Enoch Twp. Noble County, and he attended the former Fulda School. He served in the United States Army, and he was a farmer and truck driver who hauled for many contractors. He also drove the Enoch Twp. grader for several years. Mr. Crum was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulda. He enjoyed NASCAR, especially watching Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and he enjoyed watching baseball on TV.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Raphael and Herman Crum; two sisters, Pauline and Wilma Crum; and one sister-in-law, Louella Crum.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Helen E. Marshall Crum; four children, Mark (Sherrie) Crum of Springdale, Arkansas, and Rebecca Hill, Barbara (Ronald) Crum, and Brenda Michel, all of Caldwell; three grandsons, Travis (Angela) Crum of Olmstead Twp., Jeremy Hill of Marietta, and Derek Crum of Caldwell; one granddaughter, Kelly Jo Michel of Pataskala; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Renee of Marietta; one great-grandson, Landon Travis of Olmstead Twp.; two step-granddaughters, Typhanie Franke (Gavin) of Cave City, Arkansas and Kandi Hastings of Coolidge, Arizona; two step-great-granddaughters, Allison and Abrianna of Arkansas; two brothers, Bernard (Jayne) Crum of Louisville and Paul (Clara) Crum of Massillon; one sister-in-law, Betty Crum of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Monday, January 19, 2009, from 2-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Tuesday at 10:30AM at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fulda with Rev. Fr. Thomas Hamm as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery. In keeping with Mr. Crum’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund, c/o Brenda K. Michel, P.O. Lawrence Robert Crum

On September 12, 1918, self-employed farmer Lawrence Robert Crum (35, dob: July 21, 1885) of RFD #1, Caldwell, Noble Co., Ohio registered for the military draft. According to his draft registration card, his nearest relative was Amelia T. Crum of RFD #1, Caldwell. His physical description is given as medium height and build, gray eyes and dark brown hair.

In 1920, 34 year old farmer, Lawrence R. Crum lived with his wife Amelia (30) on a farm they owned in Enoch Twp., Noble Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children Raphael (6), Delbert (4 yrs 10 mos), Herman (2 yrs 10 mos), and Pauline (10 mos). All members of the household were born in Ohio as were Lawrence's and Amelia's parents. Living on adjacent farms were the Leonard J, Michel family (Amelia and Leonard's wife Eva were sisters).

On Jul 12, 1925, Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Crum and children Pauline and Bernard attended a triple birthday party at the home of Frank Smoth to honor Mrs. Alex (Tillie) Gerst, Frank Smith, and Fred Fox. See notes of Fred Fuchs (Fox) for text of the article from the Zanesville Times Recorder.

In 1930, 44 year old farmer, Lawrence Crum lived with his wife Amelia (40) on a farm they owned (value $2000) in Enoch Twp., Noble Co., Ohio. Living with them were their children Raphael (16), Delbert (14), Herman (12), Pauline (10), Bernard (8), Wilma (6), and Paul (4). All of the children except Paul attended school. Raphael gives his occupation as farm laborer. The family owned a radio.

The following article appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on Nov. 15, 1927 FULDA SCHOOL CLOSED CALDWELL, O., Nov. 14 -- Fifteen cases of scarlet fever in
and near Fulda and one at South Olive were reported under
quarantine today by Dr. J. L. Gray, Noble county health com-
missioner. The school at Fulda was closed and no public
meetings will be held until further orders. There are seven cases of the disease in the Clark Black-
stone family in Fulda, four in the Lawrence R. Crum Leo
Gerst family, three and Frank Crum one. There is also
one case of the fever in the Albert J. Crock family, of South
Olive.

Lawrence Crum's obituary appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal on April 4, 1931 CRUM FUNERAL Funeral services for Lawrence Crum, 42, well known
resident of Fulda, were held Sunday afternoon, April 5th,
at 2 o'clock from the Immaculate Conception church at
Fulda, conducted by Rev. Fr. Mattes. Internment in Church
cemetery by Funeral Director William Estadt. Mr. Crum passed away Thursday forenoon at Good
Samaritan hospital in Zanesville where he had received
treatment for an infected hand in which blood poisoning
had developed. He was born and eared in Noble county. Surviving are
his wife who was Miss Amelia Dimmerling and seven chil-
dren of the home, the following brothers and sisters, Eddie
Crum, Caldwell; Elijah Crum, near Carlisle; Frank of Zanes-
ville; Mrs. Lucy Weisant and Mrs. rose Schell, canton, Mrs.
Noah Kuhn, Lewisville, and Mrs Nellie Nauer, Akron.


Amelia Rose Dimmerling

MRS. AMELIA CRUM IS SUMMONED
Mrs. Amelia Crum, 56, of Caldwell Rt. 1, died
Sunday evening in Good Samaritan hospital following a
week’s illness. She was removed to the hospital Sunday.
Her husband, Lawrence Crum, died in 1931.
Surviving are five sons, Delbert and Paul Crum,
both of the home, and Herman, Bernard, and Raphael Crum,
all of Canton; two daughters, Mrs. Pauline Thompson of 755
Moorhead avenue [Zanesville] and Miss Wilma Crum of Can-
ton; four brothers, six sisters, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic
church at Fulda, near Caldwell.


Alonzo W. Davis

In 1930, Lonzo W. Davis (56) and his wife Mary E. (50) owned a farm in Olive Twp., Noble County, Ohio. Living with them were their unmarried children Clyde (25), Wayne (21), and Mary (19), as well as their married daughter, Grace Hill (23) and her daughter Norma Hill (1 yr 5 mos). Lonzo was employed as a line walker for the gas line.


Mary E. Guiler

Mary and her mother were born in Ohio. Her father was a native of Pennsylvania.


Otto John Hill

Two year old Otto J. Hill is listed in the household of his grandfather, Michael Crum in the 1910 census.

According to the 1920 census, 12 year old Otto Hill, lived with his grandparents, Michael and Oliie Crum in Stock Twp., Noble Co., Ohio. His mother, Rosan Crum Hill Shell lived in Canton with her second husband, Charles Shell (aka Philip Charles Schell). Otto's surname in the census is partially obscured by an ink blot. In the census index, his surname identified as "Klee."

In 1930, Otto John Hill (22) and his wife Norma (21) lived with Otto's mother and step father, Rosa and Charles Shell at 1215 Ridge Road, Canton, Stark Co. OH. Otto worked as a carpenter for a weather stripping company; and Norma as a clerk in a dry goods store. The family owned a radio.

Otto's SS# was issued in Ohio prior to 1951.
