Henry Jacob Johanning

In 1910, 18 year old Henry Johanning worked at odd jobs to earn money. He later followed in his father's footsteps and became a wagon-maker in Carlisle, Noble Co., OH in the early part of the 20th century.

In 1920, 28 year old Harry Johanning rented a home at 1416 Harrisburg Road, in Canton, Stark County Ohio where he lived with his wife Eva (26) and children William (6), Harry (5), Marie (3 yrs 11 mos), and Evelyn (1 yr 9 mos). Only William attended school. Harry worked as a cabinet maker in a lumber mill.

In 1930, Harry Johanning (39) owned a house worth $4000 at 1621 Superior St. in Canton. He lived there with his wife Eva A. (37) and children William C. (16), Harry Jr. (15), Marie (14), Evelyn (12), Walter (7), Freda (6), Roy (4) and Lewis (2). The oldest four children attended school. The Johanning family owned a radio set. Harry was employed as a carpenter in a cabinet factory. Harry was not a veteran.

According to his death certificate, Harry was a foreman carpenter in the construction industry.


Eva Angeline Archer

Carlisle (in Stock Twp.), where Eva Archer was born, was also known as Berne. the name of the town was changed to Carlisle in the early 1900s. Eva Archer grew up in Stock Twp., Noble County; a few doors away from her future husband.
