Selected Families and Individuals

Notes

Jerome Charles Poulton

In 1910, 29 year old Jerome Poulton lived in the household of his in-laws, Samuel and Etta McDaniel in Somerset Twp., Belmont County, Ohio. Living with them were Jerome's wife, Ethel B. (20) and their daughter Garnette B. (2).

At the time of the 1920 census, Jerome C. (38) and Ethel B. (30) Poulton owned a farm in Somerset Twp., Belmont County, Ohio. They lived there with their daughters Garnet B. (11) and Grace H. (8), both of whom attended school.

By 1930, the Poulton family lived in a home (not a farm) worth $1020 that they owned in Somerset Twp. The household consisted of Gerome (48), Ethel (40), children Garnet (21), Grace A. (19), William (8), Edna I. (6), Alice (4 yrs 4 mos.), Robert (1 month), and son-in-law Clarence Graves (20). It is not known if Clarence is the husband of Garnet or Grace, since both girls are listed with the surname "Poulton." Also unexplained is the 11 year gap between the borths of Grace and William Poulton. Possible explanations are: 1) intervening children died, 2) Ethel or Jerome had a serious illness but recovered, 3) Ethel and Jerome were separated (unlikely, since they lived together in 1920).
