John Sebastian Crock

In 1930, 54 year old John S. Crock owned a farm in Linn Twp., Cedar County, Iowa where he lived with his wife Catherine (58) and two servants: LeRoy Stout and Doris Lampa. The census incorrectly indicates that John was born in Iowa, althouth it correctly states that his parents were Ohio natives. The Crocks owned a radio set.

According to the 1930 census, Catherine's parents were born in Ireland.

John Patrick Ulrich

At the time of the 1900 census, John P. Ulrich (35) owned a farm in Seneca Twp., Monroe County, Ohio where he lived with his wife Anna F (21) and son Caspar S. (1). Adjacent farms belonged to Jacob and Edward Markle. John's brother George lived two doors away.

At the time of the 1910 census, John (43) and Anna (31) Ulrich lived in Seneca Twp. with their children Casper (11), Albert (9), Margaret (8), Alexander (5), John (3) and Monica (2 mos.) The oldest four children attended school. Neighboring farms in the census belonged to John's unmarried brother George and Adam Weisend.

In 1920, 53 year old John P. Ulrich lived on a farm in Summit Twp., Monroe Co., Ohio with his 40 year old wife, Anna F. and five children: Albert (19), Alexander (16), John (12), Monica (9), and Ursula (4). John was born in Ohio to German-born parents.


Anna Philomena Crock

The farms of Anna and John's parents were located to close to each other in the 1900 census. According to the 1910 census, all six of the children that Anna had given birth to were living.


Caspar Stephen Ulrich

Twenty-one year old Stephen Ulrich did not live with his parents and younger siblings at the time of the 1920 census.


Lawrence Albert Ulrich

In 1920, Albert L. Ulrich (19) lived and worked with his parents and siblings on the family farm in Summit Twp., Monroe Co., OH.


Margaret C. Ulrich

Margaret never married. Eighteen year old Margaret did not live with her family at the time of the 1920 census.


John Adam Ulrich

John Ulrich never married.


Peter Casper Crock

On 5 Jun 1917, 28 year old farmer Peter Casper Crock filled out a US military draft registration card. He gave his date and place of birth as Oct 14, 1888 in "Herrtville Ohio." He listed his wife as a dependent, but did not indicate that he had any dependent children. Peter was described as being of medium height and stout build, with brown eyes, light hair, and no obvious physical disabilities.

At the time of the 1920 census, P. C. Crock (31) and his wife Anna (34) lived on a rented farm in Fremont Twp., Cedar Co., Iowa. There were no children in the home.

In 1930, Peter C. Crock (41) and his wife Anna K. (44) rented a farm in Pioneer Twp., Cedar County, Iowa. Living with them was their son, John E. (9). Peter and Anna were both natives of Ohio, as were their parents. Data from the census indicates that they were married around 1916 or 1917. The Crock family owned a radio set.


Joseph A. Kuhn

Joseph Kuhn had a lumber mill and construction business from about 1890 until about 1930.

The family has not been found in the 1900 census.

In 1910, Joseph Kuhn (40) owned a farm in Seneca Twp., Monroe County, Ohio where he lived with his wife of 11 years, Justene (28) and their children Leander (8) and Edna (3). Leander attended school Joseph was a partner in a lumber mill. Justene had given birth to four children, only two of whom survivied in 1910. The next farms in the census were those of John S.(45), Elias (65) and John N. (31) Kuhn.

The Kuhn family was the first one listed in the 1920 census in Seneca Twp. The household consisted of Joseph (49), Justina (39), Leander O. (18) and Edna A. (13). Edna attended school. Joseph was a farmer.

At the time of the 1930 census, Joe (59) and Justina (49) Kuhn owned a farm in Seneca Twp. Living with them were their children Leander (28) and Edna (23). The family did not own a radio set. Adjacent farms in the census belonged to Homer Brown and Frank Scott. Joe's brother Simon Kuhn (53) lived two doors down.

John Wahl

In 1880, 32 year old farmer John Wahl lived in Lewisville, Summit Twp., Monroe County, Ohio with his wife Barbary (29) and children Peter (7), Hannah (5), Joseph (3), and Phronia (1). Peter and Hannah attended school.

In 1900, John Wahl (53) owned a farm in Summit Twp., with his wife of 28 years, Barbara (49) and their children Joseph (23), Charles (19), Ignasia (15), Mary B. (14), Victoria (12), and Agnes (10). Ignatius, Mary, and Victoria attended school for six month during the previous year. Also living in the household was an 18 year old farmhand Leonard Rippert. John Wahl was born in Ohio to German-born parents.

At the time of the 1910 census, John (64) and Barbara (59) Wahl still lived on a farm in Summit Twp. Other members of the household were their children Agnes (20) and Ignatius (24). According to the census, all nine of Barbara's children were alive in 1910. Although the census states that Barbara was a native of Germany, the columns asking about her year of immigration and number of years in the US are blank.

Mr. John Wahl, aged 70 years, died at his home in
Woodsfleld March 28, 1917, from stomach trouble.
He is survived by his widow, four sons and five daughter,
Peter Wahl of Lewisville Route one, Joseph Wahl of Wood-
sfield, Charles Wahl of Donors, Pennsylvania, Ignatius Wahl
of Martins Ferry, Mrs. William K. Dougherty of Ravenna, Ohio,
Mrs. George Miller of Coats, Mrs. James and Mrs. Charles Miller
of Martins Feny, and Agnes Wahl of Zanesville, Ohio.
Mr. Wahl was born in Summit Township, Monroe County,
and has lived in this community all his life, winning the respect
and esteem of all who knew him. He was a member of the
Catholic Church. He and his wife came to Woodsfield about a
year ago, having retired from the active duties of the farm.
Funeral was held Monday and was conducted by the Reverend
Father Seeber. Interment in the Woodsfield Catholic cemetery,
Woodsfield, Ohio.

HOLD MILLER-WAHL REUNION IN CITY
Sunday marked the reunion of the Miller-Wahl families.
They are the descendants of John and Barbara Wahl and John
and Barbara Miller. Both families resided in Monroe county.
Four families attending the reunion are double related. They
are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wahl, of Akron; Mr. and Mrs. George
Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Miller of Martins Ferry, and Mrs.
and Mrs. Jerome Miller of St. Clairsville. There are 57 living
grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. After attending
mass at Sacred Heart chapel in Good Samaritan hospital a
basket dinner was enjoyed in the gym at the Good Samaritan
nurses’ home The afternoon was spent at Rehl’s grove where
old times and new were the topics of conversation.

Barbara Letzelter

According to the census, all nine of Barbara Wahl's children were alive in 1900. She was born in Germany, and arrived in America in 1863.

In 1920, widow Barbara Wahl lived alone on a farm in Summit Twp., Monroe County, Ohio. The census states that she became a naturalized citizen in 1876.

At the time of the 1930 census, 79 year old widow Barbara Wahl lived in Woodsfield, Center Twp., Monroe Co., Ohio, in a home worth $2000 owned by her unmarried niece, Mary A. Letzelter (69). Neither woman had an occupation. Barbara was from Germany; her niece was a native of Ohio born to German parents.

Barbara Wahl’s obituary was published in the Zanesville Signal on 9 Nov 1937:

WAHL RITES HELD
Funeral services were held Monday morning at 10 o’clock at St.
Sylvester’s church for Mrs. Barbara Wahl, 85, widow of the late John
Wahl, who died Friday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Jerome Miller, near St. Clairsville. Death followed a short illness.
Mrs. Wahl spent most of her life at Woodsfield but for the past year
made her home with her daughter.
Surviving are four sons and four daughters: Peter Wahl of Lewis-
ville route 2, Charles Wahl of Randolph, O.; Joseph Wahl of Akron;
Ignatius Wahl of Wheeling; Mrs. George Miller and Mrs. Charles
Miller, both of Martins Ferry; Miss Agnes Wahl of Zanesville and
Mrs. Jerome Miller of St. Clairsville.
The funeral services were in charge of Rev. J. G. Mehler assisted
by Rev. Gossman of St. Clairsville. Burial was made in the church
cemetery
