MOTHER OF 7 INJURED WHEN HUSBAND KICKS HER FROM AUTO
Woman Sustains Possible Skull Fracture When She Topples From Moving Machine
A South State street woman, mother of seven children, was
being treated today at Bethesda hospital for a possible skull
fracture which police said she sustained last night when kicked
from an automobile by her husband following an argument.
The woman, Mrs. Edna Ritterbeck, 34, was found lying in
the street at Ridge avenue and Brighton boulevard and was
removed to the hospital in the Keck ambulance. Patrolmen
Howard Ball and Arthur Tate investigated.
Police said Mrs. Ritterbeck told this story:
She and her nine-year-old son had gone to a movie early
in the evening and were met later by her husband, Roy, who
insisted that they accompany him home.
She became frightened when he speeded the machine
through the downtown area and pleaded with him to stop.
The woman began to scream as they drove along Ridge
avenue, whereupon the husband opened the door and kicked
her from the machine which was still in motion. He then drove
away with the boy.
Mrs. Ritterbeck said her husband had been drinking accor-
ding to the police.
The patrolmen said they went to the Ritterbeck home after
the woman was removed to the hospital but they found no trace
of the husband.
The young mother, whose children include twins, was reported
in fair condition today at the hospital.
