John Fred Bederman

Obituary:
JOHN F. BEDERMAN
Mr. Bederman of 1333 East Main street died Friday after
several days in the hospital. He was 55 and had resided here about
21 years.
He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and had
been employed by Timken Roller Bearing co., 32 years.
Other than his widow, Florence, he is survived by a daugh-
ter, Mrs. Nancy Mickley of Canton; a sister, Mrs. Helen Barnett of
Canton, and two grandchildren.
The Rev. Fr. Mark Zwick sang the Monday Mass in St.
Louis Church. Interment was in the church cemetery in charge of
Paquelet Funeral Home.


Arthur Paul Monter

In 1930, 22 year old Arthur MP. onter rented a home at 927 East Main St. in Nimishillin Twp., Stark Co., Ohio for $20 a month. He lived there with his wife, Irene O. (22) and daughter Marilyn J. (9 mos.). Like most other families in the area, the Monters owned a radio set. Arthur worked as a crane operator in a steel mill.

Arthur could do anything... he was an electician, a plumber, a builder; he did excavation.

Obituary:
Arthur P. (Shorty) Monter, age 66, of 8436 Easton ST., NE, Louisville was pronounced dead on arrival at Timken-Mercy Hospital Friday afternoon [28 Sep 1973] following a short illness.
Born in Harrisburg, O., August 9, 1907 to the late Charles and Matilda Moulin Monter, he lived in the Louisville area all his life. A retired farmer, he had worked for some years at the old Superior Sheet Steel Co. of Louisville. He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Harrisburg and the Catholic Order of Foresters Court No. 1831.
Survivors include his wife, Irene (Zwick) Monter of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Leo (Marilyn) Parola, Jr. of Transfer, Penn., Mrs. Robert Elodie Bryan Jr. of Louisville, and Mrs. William (Linda) Rittberger of Canton; two sons, George Monter of Acton, Mass. And William Monter of Louisville; three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Berger and Mrs. Mary Chenevey, both of Alliance, and Mrs. Margaret Brahler of Louisville; two brothers, Lawrence Monter of Cuyahoga Falls, and Herbert Monter of Alliance; 16 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at 10 AM in the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church at Harrisburg, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends called at the Paquelet Funeral Home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, Catholic Order of Foresters held services Sunday evening at 9 PM.


Irene Minnie Zwick

Irene worked in the Zwick dry goods store in Harrisburg. The store was less than a mile from where Arthur lived.

Zwick-Monter Wedding at St Mary’s Church
Miss Irene Zwick, daughter or Mr. and Mrs. George Zwick of Louisville, and Mr.
Arthur Monter, son of’ Charles Monter of Harrisburg, were united in marriage at St.
Mary’s Catholic church at Harrisburg, Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock by Rev. John T.
Kasinski.
The attendants were Miss Ida Zwick, a sister of the bride, and Mr. Marvin Monter,
a brother of the groom. The bride wore a gown of white satin and carried a bouquet of
bride’s roses and lilies of the valley. The bride’s maid was gowned in pale green Romaine
crepe and carried a bouquet of pink roses. Miss Eunice Zwick, a niece of the bride was
flower girl. She was dressed in white crepe and carried a basket of white asters. Immediately
following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Zwick on North Chapel street, Louisville.
The newlyweds are on their honeymoon and will visit Niagara Falls and other points
of interest. They will be at home to their friends September 17th on East Main street in
the Romy apartments. Both the bride and groom are popular young people and have a host
of friends who wish them a long and happy wedded life. Mr. Monter is a crane operator
at the Superior Sheet Steel Co. plant in Louisville.

Obituary:
Mrs. Irene Monter, age 74, of 110 Frana Clara, Louisville passed away Friday after-
noon [10 Jul 1981] following a brief illness. Born in Stark County May 3, 1907 to the
late George and Philomena Burkhart Zwick, she was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary
Catholic Church, Altar & Rosary Society and St. Theresa Mission Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur (Shorty) in 1973. She is survived
by three daughters, Mrs. Leo (Marilyn) Parola Jr. of Transfer, Penna.; Mrs. Robert (Elodie)
Bryan Jr. of Louisville, and Mrs. William (Linda) Rittberger of Canton; two sons, George
of Acton, Mass., and William of Louisville; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Bederman of Louis-
ville, Mrs. Anna Wormald of Cape Canaveral, Fla., and Sister M. James of Our Lady of The
Elms; Ohio; 17 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at 10 AM in the Sacred Heart of Mary
Church with burial in the church cemetery. Friends called at the Paquelet Funeral Home
Sunday. In lieu of flowers, donation to the American Cancer Society, 4150 Belden St.,
NW Canton, are requested.

Charles J. Gulling

In 1920, 52 year old Charles J. Gulling lived on a farm that he owned in Louisville, Nimishillin Twp., Stark Co., Ohio with his wife Rose (53) and children Maurice L. (26), Marvin E. (23), Paul I. (20), Vincent (17), and Esther (11). Only Esther attended school. Also living in the house was Charles Gulling's widowed mother-in-law, Louise Monter (75). According to the census, Charles' parents were German-speaking immigrants from Alsace-Lorraine.

Charles J. Gulling, 77, a life resident of Harrisburg, died
Friday night following a stroke suffered earlier in the day.
A former school teacher and member of the township school
board for many years. Mr. Gulling took keen interest in the betterment
of the township schools. He was active in community affairs and was
one of the directors when The First National Bank now the Harter Bank
& Trust Co., was organized.
He was proprietor of a general store at Harrisburg from 1895
to 1915.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Rose Gulling, four sons, Albert
of Cleveland, Marvin and Vincent of Harrisburg and Paul of Pittsburgh;
three daughters, Miss Esther Gulling and Mrs. Ralph Cunin of Akron and
Mrs. H. S. Zwick of Louisville. One brother, William Gulling of Maximo,
and 29 grandchildren and three grandchildren.
Services were held Monday morning at Sacred Heart of Mary
Church with Rev. Ernest Smith officiating. Burial in the church cemetery,
in charge if Paquelet parlors.

Maurice P. France

Obituary:
Maurice P. France, age 74, 403 N. Walnut St., Louisville passed away Monday Sept. 12 [1988] at Timken Mercy Medical Center following a short illness.
Born in Canton Nov. 10 1913 to the late Clare and Elizabeth France, he lived in the area all his life. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Louisville K of C Council 1530, Louisville American Legion Post 548, World War II Army Veteran, and a prisoner of war in Germany during WWII. He was founder of the France Carpet Service, established in 1946.
He is survived by his wife Rita (Zwick) of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Connie Workman and Maurite France, both of North Canton, and Mrs. Mary Eileen Schumacher of Rocky Hill, CN; six sons, Joseph of North Canton, John, Jerry, Jude, Jeff, and James all, of Louisville; one brother, Vernon of North Canton, one sister, Winona Rossiter of Canton, 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Donald.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Calling hours were at the Paquelet Funeral Home were on Tuesday. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association and the St. Louis Building Fund.


Rita M. Zwick

Obituary:
Rita M. France, age 85, of Louisville, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother
passed away Saturday, September 22, 2001 in St. Joseph Care Center following an extended
illness. Rita was born August 19, 1916 in Nimishillen Township to the late Herman and
Florence (Gulling) Zwick. She was the former owner and office manager of France Carpet
Service in Louisville. Rita was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church where she was very
active in many programs including the church’s Liturgy Committee, Bereavement Committee,
and FISH.
Rita leaves behind three daughters, Connie Workman and her fiancée Dan Zucal of North
Canton, Maurita France of North Canton and Mary Eileen Schumacher of Ukiah, CA; six sons
and five daughters-in-law, Joe and Jackie France of North Canton, John and Ruth France of
Louisville, Jerry and Monica France of Louisville, Jude and Stephanie France of Louisville, Jeff
and Trudy France of Louisville, and Jim France of Alliance; four sisters, Jean Kirtley of
Louisville, Eunice Ott of Massillon, Rosemary Phillips of North Carolina and Barb Haren of
Louisville; four brothers, Joe Zwick of Louisville, Pat Zwick of Cincinnati, Tom Zwick of
Louisville, and Mark Zwick of Texas; twenty-one grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice P. France , who passed away September
12, 1988 and two sisters, Eileen Clapper and Mary Schrader.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today, Thursday Sept. 27 at 10:00 a.m. in St.
Louis Catholic Church with Msgr. Kenneth Miller officiating. Burial will be in parish cemetery.
Friends called Wednesday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Louis Church Building Fund.


Edward Clapper

Obituary:
Edward A. Clapper, age 86, passed away at St. Joseph Care Center in Louisville, February 8, 2001. Born in Louisville October 18, 1914 to the late Edmund and Dorothy Clapper, he worked at Babcock and Wilcox Tubular Division. A veteran of World War II 5th Army Air Corps, He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville, Knights of Columbus, [and the] American Legion of Louisville.
Preceded in death by his wife, Eileen A. (Zwick) in April 1998; sister, Marge Menter. Survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Churck and Patty Clapper of Canton, James W. and Jennifer Clapper of Alliance; two grandchildren, Adam and Jack Clapper, both of Alliance.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, February 12 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisville with Fr. Ken Miller as celebrant. Burial was in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery. Friends called Sunday at Stier-Israel Funeral Home.

Eileen A. Clapper, age 80, of Louisville, passed away Sunday, April 19 1998 at the St.
Joseph Assisted Residence in Louisville. Born in Harrisburg, OH Nov. 24 1917 to the late
Herman and Florence (Gulling) Zwick, she was a former employee of St. Thomas High
School and Zwick’s Department Store, a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Knights of
Columbus Auxiliary, and St. Anne’s Altar and Rosary Society.
Survived by her husband, Edward; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Patty
Clapper of Canton, and James and Jennifer Clapper of Alliance; one grandson, six sisters and
brothers-in-law, Rita France, Mary and Robert Schrader, Joan and Thomas Kirtley, Barbara
and Marvin Haren, all of Louisville, Eunice and Bernard Ott of Massillon, Rosemary and
William Phillips of South Carolina; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Roseann Zwick,
Thomas and Marilyn Zwick, all of Louisville, Patrick and Joy Zwick of Cincinnati, Mark and
Louise Zwick of Texas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 24 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic Church
in Louisville with Fr. Ken Miller officiating. Friends may call Thursday 6-8 p.m. in Stier-Israel

Robert M. Schrader

Obituary:
Robert M. Schrader, age 83 of Louisville, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Tuesday January 30, 2001 in St. Joseph Care Center following an extended illness. Bob was born May 30, 1917 in Louis-
ville to the late Edward H. and Mary L. (Violand) Schrader. He was a navy
veteran of WWII serving on the U.S.S. Albemarle. He co-owned the Wagener-
Schrader Steam Pump Co. with his brother, Amedus, which later merged with
Canton Stoker Corp., from which he retired from 1979. Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus Louisville Council #2530, the American Legion Post #548 and was an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church.

Bob leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law, Julia and John Lofgren of
Greentown; two sisters, Beatrice Seiser of Louisville and Joan Crock of
Louisville; a brother, Bernard Schrader of California; three grandchildren, Michael
and Andrea Lofgren of Chicago, IL, Denise Lofgren of Cleveland and Beth Lofgren of Greentown; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Lofgren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary M. Schrader who passed away March 24, 2000; a sister, Theodosia Soehnlen; and four brothers, Amedus, Thomas, Raymond and Joseph Schrader.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in
St. Louis Catholic Church with Msgr. Ken Miller officiating. Burial will be in
the church cemetery. Friends may call Friday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the
Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville. Memorial contributions may be

Mary M. Zwick

LOUISVILLE — Mary M. Schrader, 80, died Friday at her home following an
unexpected illness. Born in Harrisburg March 29, 1919, she was the daughter of the
late Herman and Florence Gulling Zwick.
Retired from the former Zwick’s Department Store, she was a longtime volunteer
at St. Joseph Care Center, and a member of American Legion Post 548 Auxiliary,
Columbus Women’s Club 25-30 and St. Ann’s Altar and Rosary Society. Mrs. Schrader
was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, Robert, whom she married Feb. 23, 1946; a daughter, Julia
Lofgren of Greentown; five sisters, Rita France, Jean Kirtley and Barbara Haren, all of
Louisville, Eunice Ott of Massillon and Rosemary Phillips of South Carolina; four brothers,
Tom and Joseph Zwick, both of Louisville, Patrick Zwick of Cincinnati and Mark Zwick
of Houston, Texas; and three grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Clapper.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday morning at St. Louis Church with
Monsignor Ken Miller as the celebrant. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. H. Joseph Zwick of Louisville celebrated their 50th anniversary June 17 with their family at a Mass at St. Louis Catholic Church. A reception at the Canton Hilton followed on June 18. The reception was given by their children and their spouses: Janet and Paul Harold, Sue and John Stipe, Cassie and Steve Metzger and Joel and Kim Zwick of Louisville; Jean and Paul Sherrett of Tucson, Ariz.; Mary and Scott Danals of Bryson City, N.C.; and Mark and Susan Zwick of Whittier, N.C. They are also the parents of the late JoAnne Zwick and late Laurie Doettger. The former Roseanne Poss and her husband were married June 17, 1950, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Canton by Monsignor George Habig. Zwick is retired from Zwick's Department Stores. Mrs. Zwick is a homemaker. They are members of St. Louis Catholic Church


Jo Anne Zwick

Obituary:
JO ANNE ZWICK, age 30, of 2528 Lisa Dr., Waldorf, Maryland was pronounced
dead on arrival at the Massillon Community Hospital last Friday afternoon [14 Aug 1981]
following a two-car accident.
Born in Stark County, February 15, 1951 to H. Joseph and Roseanne Poss Zwick, she
graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Class of 1969, Georgetown University
in 1973 and obtained her Master’s Degree from the Catholic University of America in 1980.
She lived in the Washington, S.C. area the last 12 years and was a teacher at the Charles
County Community College and also taught for a few years at Marymount College.
She is survived by her parents; Ken Ross of Waldorf, Md.; two brothers, Joel Zwick of
Louisville and Mark Zwick of Coshocton; six sisters, Mrs. Paul (Janet) Harold of No. Canton,
Jean Zwick of Tucson, Arizona, Mrs. Scott (Mary Ellen) Danals of Canton, Susan and Cassie,
both of Louisville, and Laurie Zwick of Coshocton; grandmother, Mrs. Florence Zwick of
Louisville, one nephew and two nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday at 10 AM in St. Louis Catholic Church with
burial in the church cemetery. Friends called at the Paquelet Funeral Home Monday. In lieu
