Charles Peter Schott

Most sources give 1889 as year of birth, but the 1900 census says Sep 1890.

On September 21, 1918, 28 year old unmarried farmer Charles B. Schott of Dexter City, RFD #2, Ohio registered for the military draft. According to his draft registratin card he was born in Harriettsville, Ohio on September 8, 1889. His physical description is given as medium height, slender build, with blue eyes and brown hair. His registration card indicated that he had a physical disability and the registrar noted that he could not serve because he had an open sore on his right leg.

In 1920, 30 year old unmarried farmer Charley Schott lived as a renter in the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Laura Schott in Elk Twp., Noble Co., Ohio. All members of the household were born in Ohio.

In 1930, Charley P. Schott (40) rented a farm for $18 a month in Elk Twp., Noble County, Ohio. Living with him were his wife, Lenora E. (30) and children Hazel M. (5), Charles L. (2 yrs 10 mos.) and Joseph H. (4 mos). Neighboring farmers in the census were Edward J. Huffman and John J. Williams.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schott, Sr. of Harriettsville attended the first annual Schott-Zwick family reunion in Caldwell, Ohio in August 1958. See notes of Henry Urban Schott for a complete list of attendees.

Obituary:
STAFFORD - Charles P. Schott, Sr., 87, formerly of Harrietsville, a retired
farmer, died at 10 a.m. Sunday in Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell, where
he had been a patient five years. He was born Sept. 8, 1889 in Noble County.
Mr. Schott was a member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Harriettsville.
Surviving are his widow, the former Lenora Ullman, whom he married in March
1922; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Barker of Millersburg, Mrs. Esther Hesson of
Cumberland, and Mrs. Anna Mae Brooker of Churchtown; six sons, Charles Jr.
of Lower Salem, Joe of Middleburg, Nick of Dexter City, Neil, James, and Dean
Schott, all of Marietta; two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Baker of Baltimore, Md. and
Mrs. Laura Biedenbach of Iowa; two brothers, Henry of Caldwell and Clarence
of Florida; 48 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services ill be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Henry’s Church. Burial will be
in the church cemetery.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mallett Funeral Home where friends
may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.


Lenore Ella Ullman

Obituary:
Mrs. Lenora E. Schott, 83, of Fairview Manor, Beverly, a former resident
of Summit Acres Nursing Home for 10 years, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday May
31 [1983] at Good Samaritan Medical Center. She was a member of St.
Henry’s Catholic Church in Harrietsville, where she was affiliated with the
Catholic Women’s Club.
She was born Aug. 5, 1899, in Harrietsville, the daughter of John and Julia
Schramm Ullman. Her husband, Charles Schott, died in 1976.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Hazel) Barker of Millsburg,
Mrs. Harry M. (Esther) Hesson of Cumberland Route 2, and Mrs. Edward (Anna
Mae) Brooker of Marietta Route 2; six sons, Charles Schott of Lower Salem, Joseph
Schott of Middleburg, John (Nick) Schott of Devola, James Schott of Marietta, and
Dean Schott of Beverly; 51 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, and one brother,
Glen Ullman of Mantua.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the McVay Funeral Home
in Caldwell where rosary ervices will be held at 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Henry’s
Catholic Church with the Rev. Father John Holmes and Monsignor Lawrence Luciana
as celebrants. Burial will be in St. Henry’s Cemetery.


Clarence George Schott

On 8 Jun 1917, 22 year old Clarence George Schott of Harriettsville, Ohio filled out a US military draft registration card. He was described as being short and stout, with brown eyes, light hair and no obvious physical disabilities.

A year later, Clarence enlisted in the Army and served in WWI:

In 1930, Clarence G. Schott (35) owned a home worth $2500 at 829 Railroad St. in Caldwell, Olive Twp., Noble County, Ohio. Other members of the household were his wife Pearl M. (31) and daughters Helen R. (8), Ruth A. (6), Eileen M. (4 yrs 9 mos) and Vera P. (2 yrs 6 mos). Helen and Ruth attended school. Clarence was employed as a truck driver.

Mr. and Mrs Clarence Schatt and daughters Helen, Ruth, Eileen and Vera attended the annual Schott reunion on Sunday, July 30, 1933 at the fairgrounds in Marietta, Ohio. See notes of Jacob Schott for a complete list of attendees.


The following article appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville,OH) on April 13, 1938. TWO NEW CASES Two new cases of scarlet fever were reported to Health
Commissiioner Dr. E.G. Ditch, Tuesday. The cases are two
children of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schott of Railroad street.
They are pupils in the Caldwell school, Caldwell Heights.

(Note: The identities of the children are not known at this time).

In Nov 1939, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schott and daughters Vera and Connie attended a party celebrating the 25th wedding anniversary of Herman Baker and Amelia Schott Baker (Clarence's sister).

Margaret Pearl Zwick

From the Zanesville Signal (pg 3) 20 Sep 1939:
Mrs. Clarence Schott and infant daughter have been removed to their
home on Railroad street [Caldwell] from Marietta Memorial hospital. The
daughter has been named Connie Marguerite.

According to her death certificate, Pearl M. Schott was born on May 2, 1888 in Marr, Ohio to Ohio born parents Jospeh F. Zwick and Margaret Burkhardt. At the time of her death on December 5, 1948 in Mercy Hospital, Canton, Stark co., Ohio she was married to G. C. Schott and resided at 967 Lovers Lane, Akron, Summit Co., Ohio. the cause of death is given as "(1) strangulation (2) hanging by the neck 5 Dec 48." Her death was ruled a suicide. The death certificate also noted that contributory factors were depression and psychosis. Pearl Schott was buried on December 9, 1948 in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Obituary from the Zanesville Times Recorder, Dec 8, 1948:
Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Schott, 50, wife of Clarence Schott,
Zanesville and Caldwell business man, died at an Akron hospital, follow-
ing an illness of two months. A native of Noble county, Mrs. Schott was
the daughter of Joseph and Margaret Swick. She was a member of St.
Philomena Catholic church at Caldwell.
Surviving besides her husband and father are five daughters, Mrs. Helen
Iams of Columbus, Mrs. Ruth Sausman of Akron, Eileen, Vera, and Connie
of the home; three brothers, Ralph, Lester and Clarence Swick of Marr; three
sisters, Mrs. Laura Schott of Caldwell, Mrs. Anna Hannahs of Braddock, Pa.,
and Mrs. Lorene Huffman of Harrietsville.
Mr. Schott was associated with the Standard Oil company in Caldwell and
Zanesville before moving to Akron.


Clarence George Schott

Iona Elizabeth Schott

Sigourney (IA) News Review On-line, newspaper, obituary of Iona McKay, June 30, 2004
Iona McKay, 85, of Marengo and formerly of What Cheer,
died Sun., June 20, 2004, at the University of Iowa Hospital
in Iowa CIty. She was born on October 2, 1918 in Bend, Ore., the
daughter of Edwin and Edith Klinkhammer Schott. She was
raised and educated in the Cedar Valley area. She then
worked as a domestic for several years. She was united in
marriage to William McKay on Sept. 18, 1936. The couple
then moved to the Keswick and What Cheer area where
they farmed. Later in life she worked at Amana for many
years and retired from there in 1980. She enjoyed garden-
ing and crochet. She is survived by a son, Robert of Morehead City, N.C.;
a daughter, Carol Reed of Payson, Ariz.; four sisters, Ethel
Lamp of Tipton, Evelyn Jordan of Hudson, Fla., Dorothy
Fink of Texarkana, Texas and Verna Schott of New Sharon;
eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband;
a son, Dean; a great-grandson, Scott Reed; and two brothers,
Kenneth and Donald Schott. Funeral services were held Thurs., June 24 at the Harden
Funeral Chapel in What Cheer with the Rev. Vince Homan
officiating. Burial followed at Sixteen Cemetery near Thornburg. A memorial has been established to Dollars for Scholars. Harden Funeral Chapel in What Cheer was in charge of the
arrangements.


Vernon Henry Lamp

Vernon Lamp's obituary appeared in The Iowa City (IA) Press-Citizen newspaper on September 4, 2005 Vernon Henry Lamp, 94, of Tipton died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids from complications of age.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Church of Christ, Tipton with the Rev. David Lorenzen officiating. Burial will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. There will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to St. Luke's Hospice of Cedar Rapids.
Mr. Lamp was born March 23, 1911, in Cedar County to Rosa Young and Edward Lamp. He graduated from Tipton High School in the Class of 1930. He married Ethel Maxine Schott on March 2, 1942, in Davenport. He was a farmer all his life. He was a member of the Tipton United Church of Christ. He was a Past Master of Cedar Lodge No. 11, AF&AM; a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, No. 730, Tipton; a past member of the KAABA Shrine, Davenport Consistory.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald and wife, Wendy, Lamp of Tipton, Donald Lamp of Tipton, Keith and wife, Linda, Lamp of Tipton; former wife and caregiver, Ethel Lamp of Tipton; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
His parents; a daughter, Bonnie Hilliard; two sisters, Leola Carstensen and Vera Laing, died earlier.
