Obituary:
CALDWELL — James Robert “Jim” Ackley, 83, of
16554 Ackley Lane, Caldwell, died Wednesday evening
(Nov. 23, 2005) at the Southeastern Ohio Regional
Medical Center in Cambridge. Born Dec. 9, 1921, he was the son of the late James
W. and Barbara B. Schockling Ackley. He was a graduate
of Caldwell High School. Mr. Ackley served his country
during World War II with the 68th Air Service Group of the
U.S. Army. He retired in 1986 from the Dana Corp., follow-
ing 32 years of employment. He was a member of St.
Stephen’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus,
Father Kleuber Council 2565, and the American Legion
Post 64. He was a former member of the American Haflin-
ger Registry. Jim enjoyed farming, hunting and especially
spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Schott Ackley, whom
he married on June 11, 1947. Also surviving are two daughters,
Patty Dimmerling (Ron), of Sarahsville and Pam Bickford (Don),
of Cumberland; four sons, James W. “Jim” Ackley (Charlene),
of Wayzata, Minn., Jeff Ackley (Debra), of Zanesville, Rick Ackley
(Angela), of Caldwell, and Dave Ackley (Theresa), of Caldwell;
16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter,
Linda Marie; an infant grandson, David Nicholas Ackley; and five
sisters, Florence Bridgman, Emma Estadt, Thelma Ackley, Mil-
dred Ogle and Mary Michel. Funeral liturgy, with Mass, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Mon-
day (Nov. 28) at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dale
Tornes officiating. Burial, with full military rites being observed,
will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Caldwell. Friends may call any
time Sunday at the Chandler Funeral Home in Caldwell, where
the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A vigil service
will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen’s Catholic
Church.

The following birth announcement appeared in The Times Recorder on July 11, 1938 Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schott announce the birth of an eight
pound daughter at their home north of Caldwell on July 5th.
The grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Szwick, Marr,
Monroe county, and Mr. and Mrs. N. F. Schott, East street,
Caldwell.

The following note appeared on page 10 of the Zanesville Signal on 30 Apr 1954:
CALDWELL -- May Day festival will be held this evening,
in the Caldwell high school auditorium at 8 o’clock. Corona-
tion of Lura (sic) Estadt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harley
Estadt, will take place. Lynn Ditch, daughter of Dr. and Mrs
. E. G. Ditch will serve as maid of honor. Arene Henderson,
Marilyn Schott and Julia Estadt will serve as the attendants.
Roberta Heddleson will be the crown bearer. Music will be
furnished by the eighth grade and English classes accom-
panied on the piano by Sally Evilsizer. Gray Tuecke is the
director
