According to George Archer (Archer Association) marriage of Vincent Archer and Margaret McGovern was registered at St. Johns in Miltonsburgh, Monroe but the actual ceremony was probably performed at Old St. Michaels. All of the couple's children were born in Carlisle.
In 1879 at the instigation of Bishop John Ireland, Vincent Archer and family went to Swift Co, MN to homestead but Margaret died there and Vincent returned fed up with the harsh climate and bad soil (and maybe unfriendly Lutheran neighbors?). Two of his 13 children were married in Swift Co. and another in Oklahoma City. There is still an Archer colony in Swift Co. They are spread out all over.
