Notes

Barbara Merry

Living in Sarahsville, Ohio at the time of her mother's death in 1976.

Nicholas Kullman

Birth records list name as Thomas Nicholas.

At the time of the 1900 census, Nicholas (35) owned a farm in Elk Twp., Noble County, Ohio with his wife Louisa R (28) and a five year old child named Minnie R. The relationship between Minnie and Nicholas is not clear. The word begins with "B" and ends with "d" with approximately 4 or 5 letters in between. None of of the letters in the middle have ascenders or descenders. The census index states that the word is "Boarder" but this doesn't appear to be correct. The word might be "Bound" or "Board." The census states that Louisa had not given birth to any chiildren. This suggests that Minnie is not hte biological child of Nicholas and Louisa Kullman.

In 1910, 45 year old Nicholas Coleman lived in Noble County Ohio with his 38 year old wife, Louisa and their 15 year old daugter Minnie. Also in the household was Louisa's niece Mary A. Bing (the daughter of her brother John S. Bing). Nicholas was born in Ohio to a German-born father and Ohio-born mother.

In 1920, Nick (54) and Louise (47) Kullmann owned a farm in Stock Twp., Noble County, Ohio. Living with them was Louise's niece. Mary Agnes Bing (14). Mary is identified as a household servant. Mary attended school. Neighboring households in the census were those of John A. Miller and Christopher Schehl.

At the time of the 1930 census, Nicholas Kullman (64) and his wife Louisa (58) owned a farm in Stock Twp. Living with them were Louise's niece Mary (24) and her husband Andrew Schockling. Nicholas Kullman is listed as the head of household and owner of the farm. The family did not own a radio set. Adjacent farms in the census belonged to John M. Hohman and Felix Schott.

According to Sister Marie Hohman, Nicholas and Louise (Bing) Kohlman Louise's niece lived with Andrew Shockling and Mary Agnes (Bing) Shockling in the 1930s and 40s. They were neighbors of Sister Marie's grandparents, John Maurice Hohman and Theresa Heil Hohman. The families had adjoining farms and visted each other often.

Alternate spellings of the surname include Kuhlman, Kohlman, and Kullman. The 1910 census spells it Coleman. Louise's obituary spells it Kullman.

Louisa R. Bing

The 1900 and 1930 census state that Louisa was born in Pennsylvania tp German-born parents. The 1900 census also states that Louisa had not given birth to any children.

According to the 1910 census, Louise was born in Ohio to German-born parents. At that time, she had given birth to one child, and that child was still living.
