John C. Johnston

John C. Johnston's obituary appeared in The Tribune Review (Pittsburgh, PA) newspaper on July 27, 2004
John C. Johnston, 79, of Greensburg, RD 9, died Monday, July
26, 2004, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was
born June 29, 1925, in Greensburg, a son of the late John M. L. and
Mary (Dillon) Johnston.
Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by the Elliott Company
of Jeannette. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral,
Greensburg, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter,
Kathleen Ann Johnston in 1954; a sister, Mae Johnston Nedwick; and
a brother, Elmer P. Johnston.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Dolores (Huffman)
Johnston; three sons, Kenneth E. Johnston and his wife, Felicia, of
Keller, Tex., Thomas G. Johnston and his wife, Carol Sue, of Greens-
burg, and John A. Johnston and his wife, Julie, of Leonardtown, Md.;
seven grandchildren, Kristopher, Jennifer, Matthew, Katie, Melanie,
Rachel and Eric.
Friends will be received at the Bacha Funeral Home Inc., 516
Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Wednesday from 3 to 5 and
7 to 9 p.m. Prayers in the funeral home Thursday at noon followed
by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. in the Blessed
Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg. Interment will follow in the
Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Hempfield Township. Family
suggests memorial contributions be made to the United Cerebral
Palsey Association of Pittsburgh, 2828 Brodway Blvd., Monroeville
15146.

Dates of birth and death (from Social Security Death Index) have not been proven. Social Security number issued in Pennsylvania prior to 1951.


Charles H. McCaulley

In 1930, Charles H. McCully (46) and his wife Ema (37) rented part of a three-family house at 1111 Fifth Avenue in McKeesport, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The household consisted of Charles and Ema, their daughters Garnet (7) and Jane (or June?) (4 yrs 5 mos), stepson Merle Gribble (16), Ema's father John Nau (68) and brother Paul Nau (15). Garnet and Paul attended school. Only the adult males worked outside the home: Charles as an office clerk, and John as a laborer in the steel mill. Charles was born in Pennsylvania, as were his parents and all the children in the home. Ema and her father were natives of Ohio. The family did not own a radio set.

Frieda Gertrude Nau

Godparents: Frank and Magdelena (Hartman) Singer. Ed Schweinberg (grandson of Frank and Lena Singer) remembers Freda as a very attractive woman.


Clara Cecilia Nau

Godparents: Ignatius and Anna (Arnold) Hartman. Clara is not listed as a surviving daughter in her father's 1941 death notice.


Clyde Douglas

Not sure if "Douglas" is a first name or surname.
