FORMER CALDWELL SOLDIER KILLED
CALDWELL -- Pvt. Carl E. Schoeppner, 34, former Caldwell
resident, was killed in action in the Admiralty islands on March
16, according to word received from the war department by his
wife, Mrs. Nora Schoeppner of Canton.

Pvt. Schoeppner was the son of the late George and Catherine
Schoeppner of Caldwell.
Surviving are his widow; five brothers, John, William and Bernard
of Canton; Raymond of California, and Beda of Cumberland; five
sisters, Leon Hoover of Harrisburg, Mrs. Gayford Hinton of Mobile,
Ala., Mrs. Francis Noll of Fulda, O., Mrs. George Burkhart of Magnolia
and Mrs. Fred Dick of Burkhart.
He entered the service April 23, 1942, and was sent overseas in
June 1943.

Word has been received of the death of Pvt. Carl E.
Schoeppner, 34, officially reported killed in action March 16
in the Admiralty Islands.
Pvt. Schoeppner was employed by the Ohio Boxboard
Co. of Rittman at the time he entered service.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George
Schoeppner of Caldwell; his wife, Mrs. Nova Schoeppner, 1128
5th st NW Canton; five brothers, John, William, and Bernard of
Canton, Raymond of California and Beda of Belle Valley; and
five sisters, Mrs. Leon Hoover of Harrisburg, Mrs. Gayford
Hinton of Mobile, Ala., Mrs. Francis Noll of Caldwell, Mrs.
George Burkhart of Magnolia and Mrs. Fred Dick of Woods-
field.
Inducted April 23, 1942, he received training at Camp
Robinson, Ark., and Ft. Bliss, Tex.

The Admiralty Islands are in the southwest Pacific, about 200 miles off the northern coast of Papua New Guinea.

The following appeared in The Times Recorder (Zanesville, OH) newspaper on January 17, 1940:
APPROACHING MARRIAGE
Announcement has been made here of the approaching marriage of Bernard Schoeppner, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Schoeppner, of near Fulda, and Miss Rita Harren, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Harren of Louisville, Stark county. The marriage will be solemnized Saturday morning, Jan. 21, in St. Mary's Catholic church in Louisville.
Mr. and Mrs. Schoeppner will reside in Canton following their wedding where he has employment.
On Saturday evening the newly weds will arrive here for a wedding dance to be held in St. Mary's parish hall at Fulda which has been planned in their honor by their friends in that community. The public is invited to attend.

WEDDING DANCE
A wedding dance will be held Saturday evening in the community
hall at Fulda honoring Miss Rita Harrin of Louisville, Stark county and
Bernard Schoeppner, of fulda, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Schoeppner.
Their marriage will be an event of Saturday at the St. Mary's Catholic
church with the Rev. Fr. B. J. Mattes, officiating. Schoeppner is employed
in Canton.

HARRIN SCHOEPPNER RITES
Miss Rita Harrin of Louisville Stark county and Bernard Schoeppner
of Fulda were united in marriage Saturday at the St. Mary's Catholic
church Stark county. Immediately following the ceremony they enjoyed
a wedding breakfast and motored to Caldwell at the home of his parents
Mr. and Mrs. George Schoeppner, Fulda. Dinner for the couple was
served Sunday. Saturday evening they were honored with a wedding
dance at the St. Mary's Catholic community hall.


Obituary:
MRS. B. F. SCHOEPPNER
Mrs. Rita Haren Schoeppner, 36, who had a heart ailment
about a year, was pronounced dead on arrival at Aultman Hospital
Sunday night. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church
and the Altar Society of Sacred Heart of Mary Church at Harrisburg.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters,
Kathleen Ann and Rebecca Marie and two sons, Gerald and Frederick
all of the home, and her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Haren of Louisville.
Also surviving are five sisters, Mrs. William Begue, Mrs.
Richard Begue, Mrs. Thomas Michel, and the Misses Jean and Carol
Haren, all of Louisville, and eight brothers, Harry, Bernard, Robert,
Paul, George and Louis Haren, all of Louisville, and Donald of Canton
and Richard of Norfolk, Va.
Requiem High Mass was sung this morning (Thursday) in St.
Joseph’s Church. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery.


Nellie Edna Miller

Wedding announcement; Louisville Herald:
St. Louis church was the scene of a pretty wedding Tuesday morning. The contracting parties were Miss Nellie Miller and Mr. Otto Haren. They were attended by Miss Esther Bresson and Harry Haren, a brother of the groom, and the ceremony was performed by Rev. N. P. Weckel. May friends and relatives were in attendance at the ceremony.
Mrs. Haren was gowned in cream satin and wore a handsome hat. She is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Miller and is a comely young lady. Mr. Haren is a son of Mr. and Mrs. George Haren and is a young man of sterling worth.
A reception was given at the Miller home east of Louisville, the guests being the immediate relatives of the bride and groom and a few intimate friends. Their gifts were numerous and beautiful.
During the past summer Mr. Haren erected a commodious house on South Chapel street which was nicely furnished in readiness for his bride. They are now located there.

Kathleen Ann Schoeppner

Obituary:
Kathleen A. (Schoeppner) Stephens Smith, age 62 of
Freeport, OH, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 7, 2005 at
Aultman Hospital. She was born in Canton.
Preceded in death by parents, Bernard and Rita Schoep-
pner; two brothers, Gerald and Fred Schoeppner. Survived
by her husband of nine years, Roger L. Smith; two daughters,
Christine A. (John) Gerber of Louisville, Traci (Mike) Stoddard
of Canton; son, Todd M. Stephens of Freeport; five grand-
children, Brandin, Nicole, Johnny, Kelsey and Ian; sister,
Rebecca Young of Arizona. Funeral services will be Friday at
10 a.m. at the Welch-Sekeres-Lewis Funeral Home. Rev.
Edward Beneleit will officiate. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
Calling hours Thursday 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.


Frederick B. Schoeppner

Obituary:

Frederick B. Schoeppner, age 59 of Massillon, passed away suddenly Saturday April 26, 2003 at the residence. A life time area resident of theCanton/
Massillon area. He was a veteran serving with the U.S. Army. Employee of Republic Storage Systems for 27 years. A graduate of St. Joseph elementary school and 1961 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Canton. FOE McKinley Arie #2370, CYC, The Ex-Newsboys. A contributing benefactor to the University of Akron's Accounting Department and the Canton Student Loan foundation. Preceded in death by a daughter, Staci Ann Schoeppner; parents Rita and Bernard Schoeppner; and a brother, Jerry Schoeppner. Survived by his wife of 33 years, Shirley J. (McGrath) Schoeppner; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Tim Blythe of Canton; grandson, Justin Blythe; two sisters, Kay Stephens Smith of Cadiz, OH., Rebecca Young of Chandler, AZ. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church of Canton with Rev. Edward Beneleit as celebrant. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Welch-Sekeres-Lewis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Staci Ann Schoeppner Memorial Scholarship at The University of Akron Accounting Department.
