James Kimble Sr.

Obituary: (from Betty Hartley)
James Kimble, Sr., 59, a resident of 36910 Neptune Road, Barnesville, died Thursday,
in the Barnesville Hospital. He was born January 9, 1924, in Bellaire, a son of the late Earl
and Margaret Hoff "Colvin".
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Burkhart Kimble, a daughter, Brenda
Hannahs, and a sister.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Belinger Kimble; seven daughters, Linda Maddison of Palm
Springs, CA., Mrs. Sue Hightower of Palm Desert, CA., Mrs. Jon (Sharon) Thornton, Donna
Kimble, Debbie Kimble, and Tammi Kimble, Mrs. Mike (Mindy) Fulton, all of Barnesville; two
sons, Scott Robb of Anchorage, Alaska, and James Kimble, Jr. of Flushing; a sister, Mrs. Betty
Hammer of Akron; seven grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Campbell-Plumly Funeral Home,Barnesville, Sunday 2 to 4 and
7 to 9 PM, where services will be Monday at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Charles Mascolino
officiating. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Barnesville.

Charles J. Burkhart, 77, of Miltonsburg-Calais Road,
Woodsfield, diedThursday, July 18, 1996, in Wheeling
Hospital. He was a retired meat cutter and farmer, and
a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church,
Miltonsburg,
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph
and Margaret Schafer Burkhart; three sisters. Surviving
are his wife Wilma Crock Burkhart; two daughters, Mrs.
Dennis (Judy) Carpenter of Ohio and Mrs. Jim (Kathy)
Robson of Columbus; four sons, David of McMechen,
Robert of Malaga, Donald of Quaker City, and George
of Woodsfield; a brother, John, of home; three sisters,
Mrs. Ford (Gertrude) Harding of Ashland, Ohio, Mrs.
George (Martha) Kress of Lewisville and Alice Yarus
of Zanesville; 15 grandchildren; several nieces and
nephews.
Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday at the Watters
Funeral Home, Woodsfield.Funeral liturgy with Mass
will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the St.John the
Baptist Catholic Church, Interment in St. John the Baptist
Catholic Cemetery. Vigil Services 7 p.m. Sunday.

Vera Lucille Kahrig

The following appeared in the Times Recorder newspaper, Zanesville, OH on July 15, 1957 PLAN WEDDING NEXT MONTH Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Kahrig of Lewisville
Rt. 1, ae announcing the approaching marriage
of their daughter, Vera Lucille, to Robert Joseph
Crock son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Crock of
Woodsfield Rt. 3. Both the bride-elect and groom are graduates
of Lewisville High School. The wedding will be an event of Saturday, Aug
3, at 9 a.m. in the St. John's Catholic Church at
Miltonsburg. The custom of open church will be
observed. A wedding dance will be held the same evening
in the St. John's Parish Hall at Miltonsburg. Music
will be furnished by the Leatherwood Valley Gang.
The public is invited.


Henry Kress

Henry emigrated to America and lived in Fulda, Ohio for several years (c. 1860-1865). In 1860, 37 year old Prussian-born tailor Henry Grass lived in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio with his 38 year old wife Catherine and their five children: Peter (11), Teresa (8), Margaret (6), Nicholas (3), and Catherine (6 months). The three older children attended school. The census states that all the children were born in Pennsylvania; and Henry and his wife were born in Prussia.

Henry Kress moved his family to Indiana in 1865.


Catherine Miller

According to the 1860 census, Catherine Miller and her husband Henry Grass/Kress were born in Prussia.


Catharina Kress

The 1860 census states that Catherine was born in Pennsylvania. Church records at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Fulda, Noble County, Ohio indicate that she was baptized there.
