DELORES ARCHER TO BECOME BRIDE OF N. LEXINGTON MAN
Announcement was made last evening of the engagement and
approaching marriage of Miss Delores Archer, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. E. P. Archer of Lewisville and Dan McIlvoy, son of Mrs. Neil
McIlvoy, New Lexington.
The announcement came as a complete surprise to guests of
Miss Archer, who was entertaining with the assistance of her sister,
Mrs. Dale Wagner, Mrs. William Burkhart and Mrs. Forrest Stiers.
Guests were co-workers of the hostess at the Iden Beauty parlor and
a few additional friends.
The announcement was made when games were played at a large
table. The centerpiece was a shamrock plant from beneath which came
streamers of white ribbons with shamrock attached. One of the tokens
had instead of the usual third leaf a package wrapped and tied in white.
When opened, it was found to be a photograph of Miss Archer and
Mr. McIlvoy. On the white ribbon fastening the pictures together was
written the date May 2 and the place of the wedding, St. Thomas Catholic
Church. St. Patrick’s day colors were used in the decorations and in
selecting the lunch.
Miss Archer is a member of St. Thomas church and has been employed
at Idens for a number of years. Mr. McIlvoy is owner and proprietor of the
Family Barber Service in New Lexington and he and his bride will make
their home in that village.

The wedding announcement of Dolores Archer and Dan McIlvoy was published in the Zanesville Signal on 2 May 1938:
WHITE SATIN IS WORN BY BRIDE AT CHURCH RITES
A white satin gown with lace yoke had been chosen by Miss Dolores
Archer to wear for her wedding dress, when on Monday morning at 7:45
o’clock she became the bride of Dan McIlvoy, New Lexington. The veil,
with cap effect at the head, reached to the end of the long train on the dress.
The bride’s sandals were of white satin and she carried a white prayer book,
with lilies of the valley and white streamers.
The marriage took place at St. Thomas Catholic Church in the presence
of many relatives and friends. Rev. Father S. B. Campbell, assistant pastor,
who read the service, was also celebrant of the nuptial mass following.
Miss Mary McIlvoy, sister of the bridegroom, was attired in a blue net dress
over taffeta with a pink silk and net turban and short veil. She also had pink
mitts and pink sandals. Her flowers were pink roses. Joseph Archer, Lewis-
ville, brother of the bride, was best man, and another brother, John Archer,
Lewisville, and Warren McIlvoy, Mt. Vernon, brother of the bridegroom, were
the ushers. The church was beautifully decorated.
The wedding breakfast was served at the home of Mrs. McIlvoy’s sister,
Mrs. Forest Stiers, South Zanesville and there the decorations were attractively
arranged. Later, the young people left for a trip and after May 15 they will be at
home in New Lexington where Mr. McIlvoy is proprietor of Family Barber Service.
