Joseph Vogler

Joseph's occupation: contracting tinner in Wheeling, Ohio Co, WV, 1900. In the 1900 census for Wheeling, WV, Joseph and his family are residing at 2126 Main Street. In the 1910 census for Wheeling, WV, Joseph and his family are residing at 2138 Chapline Street and he is a tinner in his own metal shop.


Obituary:
VOGLER RITES TO BE MONDAY - Sheet Metal Worker is Stricken at South Side Home. Funeral services for Joseph A. Vogler, Jr., 66, well known sheet metal worker of Wheeling who succumbed early yesterday morning at his home, 2138 Chapline street, will be conducted Monday morning. Following services at the home at 8:30 o'clock, requiem high mass will be solemnized at 9 o'clock at St. Alphonsus' church. Interment will be made in Mount Calvary cemetery. Mr. Vogler, a life-long resident of the fifth ward, died at 1:30 o'clock Friday morning following a lengthy illness. For the past 41 years he had conducted a sheet metal shop and remained active in business until illness forced his retirement. The decedent was a member of the congregation of St. Alphonsus' Catholic church. Fraternally, he was affiliated with Carroll council No. 504, Knights of Columbus, and the A.O.U.W. Surviving in addition to his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Vogler, are three sons, William, Lee and Henry, and two daughters, Mrs. Anna Zipfel and Mrs. Helen Stahl, all of Wheeling. Two sisters, Mrs. Anna Vogler, of Wheeling, and Mrs. Henry Emig, of Wellsburg, and one brother, William Vogler, of Wheeling, also remain. In addition to thirteen grandchildren.


Elizabeth Beuter

Prominent Wheeling Woman Is Stricken On Sunday - Mrs. Elizabeth Beuter Vogler, widow of the late Joseph A. Vogler, and a life-long resident of Wheeling, died Sunday morning at 5:30 o'clock in the North Wheeling hospital following an illness of complications. Death was unexpected and came as a shock to a wide circle of friends and associates. Born in Wheeling she spent her entire life here and was a life-long member of St. Alphonsus' church. She was affiliated with the Christian Mothers' society and always took an active part in church affairs. She is survived by three sons, William, Lee, and Henry Vogler; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Zipfel and Mrs. Helen Stahl, all of Wheeling; three brothers, Henry J., Richard K. and Joseph Beuter; two sisters, Mrs. Anthony Stender and Mrs. Chester G. Thompson, and 13 grandchildren. Her husband, a former associate with the Joseph A. Vogler, Jr., tinning company in South Wheeling, preceded her in death in January. The body was taken to the Altmeyer and Sons funeral home and was later removed to the late residence at 2136 Chapline street. Services will be conducted Wednesday morning at 8:30 o'clock at the home followed by requiem high mass at St. Alphonsus' church at 9 o'clock. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Members of the Christian Mothers' society will meet at the home Tuesday nigh at 8 o'clock to recite the rosary.


Walter Clement Warner

Walter worked for Ben Noll, managing the Sohio filling station in Olive. Walter bought the station when Ben retired.

Obituary:
CALDWELL - Walter C. Warner, 70, of Caldwell Route 6, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday
Nov. 20 [1984] at Guernsey Memorial Hospital in Cambridge. He was born Feb. 15,
1914 in Carlisle, the son of Isadore and Rosa Schehl Warner. Mr. Warner was retired
from the Imperial Cleveite Corporation in Caldwell, and a member of St. Stephens Catholic
church.
His wife, the former Verena Heppner, whom he married Oct. 21, 1956, died Sept. 24
1981. Surviving are five daughters, Mariane Goodhart, Ruth Warner, and Elaine Lee, all
of Caldwell, Judy Bolen of Dexter City and Kathy Presnell of Germany; two sons, Robert
Warner of Caldwell and Larry Warner of Hartville; 22 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren;
two sisters, Mary Gerst and Bernice Schafer, both of Zanesville, and one brother, Alec
Warner of Newark.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the
Caldwell Chapel of Estadt-Cawley and Peoples Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be
recited at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at
St. Stephens Catholic Church with the Rev. Dale Tornes as celebrant. Burial will be in
Mount Olivet Cemetery in Caldwell.


Verena Margaret Heppner

The following appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on January 30, 1934: FRIENDS GUESTS AT BIRTHDAY PARTY HELD AT CALDWELL Miss Varenna Heppner Guest of Honor Calddwell, O, Jan. 30 -- A number of friends and neighbors gathered
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Andy Heppner Sunday evening to celebrate
the birthday anniversary of their daughter, Varenna. Games, music and
dancing were the diversions of the evening. Those present were Louella, Varenna, Paul and Bill Heppner, Herman
(?) Estadt, Pauline Schott, Carl, Alice and Ester and Clarence Rupple, Billie,
Earl, Harley and Lorena Michael, Raphal Crum, Erlene Fox, Alvin Hill, Clar-
ence, Earl and Clyde Schell, Hilda, Michael, Hilda and Andrew Mahler,
Rayfield Hill, Carl and Billie Schoepner, Deloris Zwick, Walter Schockling
and Charles Archer.


The wedding announcement following appeared in The Zanesville (OH) Signal newspaper on October 15, 1936: Plans are being made for a wedding dance Wednesday evening, Oct. 21,
in Cecelian hall, Carlisle, in honor of Miss Verna Heppner, Caldwell, and
Walter Warner, Carlisle, who are to be married that morning in St. Philomena
Catholic church.

Obituary:
CALDWELL - Mrs. Verena Margaret Warner, 67, of Caldwell Route 1, died
at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 [1981] at home. She was born Jan. 24 1914 in
Caldwell, the daughter of John K. and Elizabeth Schockling Heppner, and was
a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband Walter; two sons, Robert of Caldwell and Larry of
Hartsville; five daughters, Mrs. John (Marlene) Goodhart of Caldwell Route 9,
Ruth at home; Mrs. Art (Judy) Bolen of Dexter City Route 1, Mrs. Michael (Elaine)
Lee of Caldwell Route 1, and Mrs. Randolph (Kathy) Presnell of Germany. Also
surviving are two brothers, William Heppner of Caldwell Route 1 and Wilfred Heppner
of Louisville, three sisters, Mrs. Eugene Wells of Roseville, Mrs. John Fitzhugh of
Canton, Mrs. Dorothy Fowler of Caldwell Route 1; 21 grandchildren and one great-
granddaughter.
Friends may call anytime today at Estadt Funeral Home here where wake services
will be held at 7 p.m. today. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Stephen's
Catholic Church with the Rev. Gene Mullett officiating. Burial will be in Mount
Olivet Cemetery.

Obituary:
Service for Edwin C. Warner, 61, of Philipsburg, Pa., a former Zanesville resident,
will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Philipsburg. He died Monday [01 May 1978]
in Philipsburg Hospital. Mr. Warner was a self-employed tree contractor. Born March
14, 1919, in Caldwell, he was a son of Isidor and Rose Shell Warner.
Surviving are his wife, the former Edith Anderson; two daughters, Linda of Philipsburg
and Sandy Warner of the home; two brothers, Alex of Newark and Walter of Caldwell; two
sisters, Mrs. Edwin Schafer of Orchard Hill Road, and Mrs. Mary Gerst of 631 Locust Ave.
and three grandchildren.
