John H. Fischer

In 1930, 70 year old widower John H. Fisher lived in the household of his daughter, Anna Fisher Lung Lehmiller, on Main Street in the North Industry section of Canton, Ohio. John Fisher was not employed at the time of the census. He and his parents were born in Pennsylvania. John was 22 years old when he first married.


Florentine Schumacher

Flora Schumacher Burgacher’s obituary was published in the Zanesville Signal on 26 mar 1951:
WOODSFIELD - Mrs. Flora Burgbacher, 64, of Fairgrounds
street, Woodsfield, died Saturday evening at her home
following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Burgbacher, a life long resident of Monroe county,
was born March 21, 1887, near Woodsfield. She was a mem-
ber of St. Sylvester Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary
society.
Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Julia Yantz (sic) Schumacher
and a son, Herbert, both of Woodsfield. Her father, Henry
Schumacher, a brother, Louis, and a sister, Ella Maley,
preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 o’clock Tuesday
morning at St. Sylvester Catholic Church with Rev. Frr. Robert
A. Brown officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will remain at the Schumacher funeral home,
Woodsfield, where the Rosary will be recited at 8 o’clock
this evening.


Louis R. Schumacher

In 1930, Louis R. Schumacher (36) and his wife Estella (33) owned a farm worth $2500 in Center Twp., Monroe County, Ohio. The couple had been married about 8 years. Living with them were their children Arthur (5) and Margaret (1 yr 2 mos). Everyone in the household was a native of Ohio, as were their parents.

RITES MONDAY FOR WOODSFIELD MAN
WOODSFIELD - Funeral services for Louis Schumacher will be
held at 9 o’clock Monday morning at St. Sylvester Catholic Church,
with Rev. Father J. G. Mehler reading the requiem mass. Burial will
be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Schumacher, who was 52, died at his home here Friday after-
noon following a heart attack. He was a veteran of the first World war
and a member of the American Legion.
Surviving are his widow, three sons, Pvt. Arthur Schumacher, a
paratrooper serving in the South Pacific, and Francis and Louis Jr.,
both of the home; a daughter, Margaret Anne, also of the home, his
mother, Mrs. Julia Yontz Schumacher, a brother Herbert, and a sister,
Mrs. Flora Burgbacher of Woodsfield.


Frances Scozzarella

Obituary:

Frances (Scozzarella) Schumacher, age 82, of Canton
passed away Thursday afternoon, April 27, 2006 at Alter-
care of Canton. Born May 23, 1923 in Canton to the late Angelo and
Salvatrice (Brigina) Scozzarella. She was a member of
St. Michael’s Catholic Church. A graduate of McKinley
High School 1942; retired Postal Service 1985; member
of AARP and NARFE. Frances enjoyed traveling around
the country and line dancing.
Preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Schumacher;
sisters, Rose Sacco, Mary Bishop and Angeline Dudley.
She is survived by her son and daughter- in-law, Michael
H. and Shirley Schumacher of California; sister and brother-
in-law, Grace and Vincent Sacco of Canton; brother and
sister-in-law, Tony and Maria Scozzarella of Tucson, AZ;
brother-in-law, Clyde Dudley of Canton; many nieces,
nephews and cousins; and her husband’s family of the
Woodsfield, Ohio area.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday 11:00 a.m.
in St. Michaels Catholic Church Chapel with Fr. Benson
Okpara celebrant. Family will receive friends in the church
an hour before services 10-11 a.m. Final resting place is
Calvary Cemetery.

Rita Schumacher

Obituary source--Daily Jeffersonian, Cambridge, Ohio; Published--December 2001 WOODSFIELD - Rita M. Singleton, 67, of Woodsfield, died Saturday, December, 22, 2001 at the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 1, 1934, in Woodsfield, daughter of the late Herbert and Stella (Bing) Schumacher. Mrs. Singleton retired from the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield, where she served as a certified nursing assistant. She was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, where she was also a member of the Purgatorial Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Singleton, who died April 8, 1997; a brother, Elmer Schumacher; and a grandson, Christopher Reed. She leaves two daughters, Kathy Singleton of Woodsfield and Mrs. Larry (Cindy) Stephen of Boston; two sons, Patrick (Sharon) Singleton and Matthew (Sherri) Singleton, both of Woodsfield; a brother, Roger Schumacher of Woodsfield; nine grandchildren, Madeline Singleton, Adam Reed, Kyle Singleton, Tim Woodell, Jeff Woodell, John Schumacher, Tiffany Stephen, Katelyn Stephen and Lance Schumacher; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Watters Funeral Home, Woodsfield. A vigil service will be 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Woodsfield, with the Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik serving as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Sylvester Catholic Cemetery. Joseph Baker

From Betty Hartley: Arrived in America in 1837. Joseph Baker was a trustee of Summit Twp. for more than seven years.

In 1880, Joseph (56) and Christina (55) Baker lived in Malaga Twp., Monroe County, Ohio with their children John (27), Theobald (26), George (24), Mary (22), Joseph (16), widowed daughter Margaret Baker Reisbeck (29), and Margaret's children Elenore (9), Agnes (7), Clara (6), and John (4) Reisbeck. Margaret's three daughters attended school that year, as did Joseph Baker. Adjacent farms in the census belonged to Jacob Schmitt and Jacob Haren.

Joseph Baker owned 320 acres of land in Malaga Township. He was trustee of Summit Twp. for 7 years according to Caldwell's Atlas of Monroe Co.
