SCHUMACHER, Nellie, 88, formerly of Woodsfield, Ohio, passed away on January 22, 2008, in The Arlington Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Arlington, Ohio. She was born November 27, 1919 in Graysville, Ohio, daughter of the late Douglas and Addie Hodge Dillon. She was a graduate of Mannington, W.Va. High School. After her marriage in 1938 to Alfred Schumacher, Sr., she lived in Woodsfield until May 2005 when after a stroke she was moved to Abbington of Arlington Assisted Living in Columbus, Ohio. Her husband Alfred, Sr. in 1997; brothers, Romney, Ralph and Floyd Dillon; and sisters, Garnet Miller and Grace Fletcher, preceded her in death. Nellie is survived by a sister, Jeanne (Mac) Spengler of Mannington, W.Va.; and sister- in-law, Grace Lynch Froelicher of Coraopolis, Pa. She is also survived by five sons, Richard (Carol) of Upper Arlington, Ohio, Frank (Ann) of Lewis Center, Ohio, Alfred, Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky, George (Debbie) of Dover, Ohio, and John Schumacher of Ashley, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Barbara Hood Andrick; 14 grandchildren, Rick (Lori) Schumacher, Stephen (Erin) Schumacher, Sarah Kurz, Michael (Stacy) Schumacher, Kristen (Paolo) Cusaro, Brent (Michelle) Schumacher, Doug (Nicole) Schumacher, Patrick, Mark, Amanda, Rebecca, Dain, Cassy and Cole Schumacher. Nellie is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, Nicole, Jason, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Jordan, Anna, Ryan, Avrey and Evan Schumacher, Davis and Mary Grace Kurz; as well as many nieces and nephews. Her love of family was always evident as she had a special relationship with each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her faithful caregiving for her husband Alfred during his Parkinson dehabilitation was for many years her vocation. Nellie loved to garden, and was a wonderful cook, and a caring and compassionate mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a faithful member of St. Sylvester’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Women’s Club. Nellie was employed by The Modern Hardware for several years. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield on Sunday, January 27, 2008 with Vigil at 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 28, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. Sylvester’s Catholic Church, 334 South Main Street, Woodsfield, with the Rev.
