Harry Leonard Singer

In 1920, 17 year old Harry Singer lived with his parents in Petersburg, Pike County, Indiana. He was employed as a blacksmith at an oil field.

Ten years later, Harry (28) and his wife Agnes (25) owned a house worth $2100 at 613 County Road in Pinckneyville, Perry County Illinois. Their house was right next to Harry's parents' home.

Harry was employed as a Master Mechanic at Truax-Traer Mine. He resided 714 Wilson St., Pinckneyville, IL.


Henry Otto Kinman

Hnery was a self-employed water well driller. Last known address, 701 Penina St., Pinckneyville, IL. In the Social Security Death Index, the "Last Residence" is "Indianapolis, Marion, IN" but the "Last Benefit is "Pinckneyville, Perry, IL" Henry and Clara Kinman had no children.


Howard Alexious Singer

According to the Rawson genealogy, Howard Singer was born in "Brownsmill, OH." Current references do not show any town named Brownsmill in Ohio, but there are three towns in the state named Brownsville. These three towns are located in Licking, Ross, and Monroe County. Monroe County is adjacent to Noble County, where Howard's father, Alex Singer, was born.

In 1930, Howard Singer (22) lived with his parents in Pinckneyville, Perry County, Illinois. Like his father, he was a coal miner.

Howard Singer's Social Security number was issued in Missouri prior to 1951. He was a superintendent at the Hanna Coal Company. Howard and Hulda's last known residence was in Flushing, Belmont County, Ohio.


Hulda Marie Schroeder

Adolph Burkhard

In 1900, Adolph Burkhard (36) rented a farm near Barnesville, in Wayne Twp., Belmont County, Ohio where he lived with his wife of 14 years, Catherine (33) and daughter Angela (9). Angela attended school. Sharing the home was Adolph's younger brother, Joseph, his wife, Elizabeth and their daughter. The maiden name of both Elizabeth and Catherine was Arnold. It is not known how they were related.

In 1910, Adolph Burkhart (46) owned a farm near Bellaire, Somerset Twp., Belmont County, Ohio. Living with him was his wife Katherine (42) and one of their two children, Angela (19).

Adolph Burkhart was not found in Ohio in the 1920 or 1930 census index.

When he signed as the informant on the death certificate of his wife, Adolph clearly spelled his last name "Burkhart".

FUNERAL THURSDAY FOR ADOLPH BURKHARD
BARNESVILLE - Funeral services for Adolph Burkhard, 77, who died
Monday night at his home, 357 West Main street, will be held at the Church
of the Assumption Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. at Ozark later, with Rev.
Father Tague in charge. Burial will be at Ozark.
He was born in Monroe county June 24, 1863, the son of George and
Magadeline Weber Burkhard. His wife, Catherine Tuefel Burkhard, died
several years ago. He is survived by two daughters, Miss Mary Burkhard
of Ozark, and Mrs. Grant Scott of this city, two granddaughters, and a great-
granddaughter, three sisters, Mrs. Harry Flowers, Barnesville, Mrs. Mary
Burkhard, Ozark, and Miss Elizabeth Burkhard, Ozark, and a brother, G. C.,
Ozark.

The death of Mrs. Adolph Burkhart occurred early this
Thursday morning [25 Jun 1936] at the Community Hospital
where she had been taken a few hours before for treatment.
She had been ill for the past month with gall trouble and a
severe heart attack was the direct cause of her death.
The deceased was born near Batesville December 26,
1859, and was a daughter of Thomas and Bridget Garvy.
She was married twice; the first time to Celestine Teufel of
Temperanceville, who preceded her in death a number of
years ago. Five children were born to them and all are living;
Mrs. Fred Armbruster, Mrs. Albert Wagner, Barnesville;
Messrs. Anthony,Louis and Gus Teufel, Wheeling.
Fifteen years ago, Mrs. Teufel was married to Mr. Adolph
Burkhart of Barnesville, who survives her. She is the last of
her immediate family but besides her husband and above
named children, she leaves seven grandchildren and two
great grandchildren.Mrs. Burkhart was a devout member
of the Roman Catholic Church and was a kind and clever
neighbor. She was well and favorably known as she has
lived in Barnesville the most of her life.
Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Father M. W.
Sullivan at theChurch of the Assumption Saturday morning
at nine o'clock. Burial will be made in Beaver Cemetery at
Batesville in charge of the Campbell Funeral directors.

William S. Martin

A search of the 1900 census index for Belmont, Guernsey, Monroe, Noble, and Washington counties in Ohio did not turn up a record for William and Catherine Martin.

In 1910, William S. Martin (lived in a multi-family house at 228 Hunts Ave. in Barnesville, Warren Twp., Belmont County, Ohio. He lived there with his wife of 22 years, Katherine (51) and children Mary (19) and Wilferd (12). Wilferd attended school. William and his parents were born in Ohio. He worked as a laborer for the railroad.


Catherine Burkhard

By 1910, Catherine had given birth to two children, both of whom were still living. Catherine worked as a tobacco dryer.

In 1900, 19 year old Mary Martin lived with her parents in Barnesville, Belmont County, Ohio. She was employed as a cigar roller.


Joseph A. Burkhard

In 1900, Joseph (33) and Elizabeth (30) Burkhard shared a rented farm near Barnesville, in Wayne Twp., Belmont County, Ohio with Joe's brother Adolph and his family.

In 1910, widower Joseph A. Burkhart lived with the family of his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Harry Flowers at 344 South Gardener St. in Banresville, Warren Twp., Belmont County, Ohio. Joseph was employed as a laborer in a car factory.

In 1920, Joseph Burkhart (50) owned a house at 320 South Gardener St. in Barnesville. He lived there with his second wife, Ellen (49), her son from her first marriage, John Murphy (15), and his daughter, Marcella Burkhart (22). John attended school. Joseph worked as a laborer in a foundry. The house next to Joseph's was that of his sister and brother in law, Margaret and Harry Flowers.

In 1930, Joseph (59) and Ellen (56) Burkhard owned a home worth $1900 at 330 South Gardenter St. in Barnesville, next door to Joseph's sister Margaret. Joseph was a machine operator in a foundry. No children lived in the home.

Joseph is not listed as a surviving sibling in the 1940 death notice of his brother, Adolph.

Obit:
The sudden death of Joseph A. Burkhart of South Gardner St.,
which occurred at his home Thursday afternoon, November 16,
was a great shock to his relatives and friends and to the community
in general. Mr.Burkhart had not been very well, but no alarm was
given for his condition and on Wednesday Mrs. Burkhart had been
called to Wheeling on account of the unexpected death of her brother,
Mr. Thomas Kearney. Mr. Burkhart became worse that evening and
consulted with a physician but as he did not improve by Thursday, he
called in his sister, Mrs. Harry Flowers, who was with him when he
passed away at 1:45 that afternoon. His wife was notified and returned
home immediately.

Joseph A. Burkhart was born near Ozark, May 2, 1867, and was a
son of George B. and Magdalena Burkhart. he has been a resident of
Barnesville for many years and was employed at Watt Car Wheel
Company. He was a clever, likeable man and had a number of friends.

Besides his wife, who was Miss Nellie Kearney, he leaves one
daughter, Mrs. Marcella Thimnes of Chicago, and a stepson, Mr. John
F. Murphy,Washington, DC. He is also survived by four sisters and
three brothers: Mrs. Anthony Burkhart, Misses Lena and Elizabeth
Burkhart, Ozark, Mrs.Harry Flowers, Adolph Burkhart, Barnesville,
George C. Burkhart, Ozark and Theobald Burkhart, Zanesville.

Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Father M.W. Sullivan
Monday morning in the Church of the Assumption, of which the
deceased was a devout member, and burial was made in the
Ozark Cemetery, following a shortservice in his mother church
nearby.

Elizabeth M. Arnold

At the time of the 1900 census, Elizabeth Arnold Burkhard had given birth to only one child, Marcella. The relationship between Elizabeth and her sister-in-law Catherine Arnold Burkhard, with whom she lived in 1900, is not known. Elizabeth was born in West Virginia to German-born parents.

In 1910, Marsale Burkhard (12) lived on the farm of her uncle George Burkhard in Sunsbury Twp., Monroe County, Ohio.

In 1920, Marcella lived with her father and step mother in Barnseville, Belmont County, Ohio. Marcella was employed as a clerk in a Navy yard.

Eleanor Kearney

According to the 1920 census, Ellen was born in Ohio to Irish-born parents. Charlie Burkhardt, citing Ambrose Burkhart, states that she may be buried in Barnesville.

Discrepancies exist regarding Ellen.
The 1920 and 1930 censuses both state that Joseph's second wife was named Ellen and that she was a year or two younger than her husband.
Charlie Burkhardt states that her name was Nellie Kearney, daughter of James Kearney. He gives her birth date as "Abt. 1892" which makes her 25 years younger than Joseph. Charlie Burhardt gives her date of death as 8 Mar 1969 in Belmont Co., OH. The Social Security Death Index has no record of this death.

Henry M. Breiding

In 1930, Henry M. Breiding (37) owned a home worth $7000 in Tallmadge, Summit County, Ohio. Living with him was his wife Matilda M. (33) and son Louis J. (2 yrs 9 mos). Henry was a native of West Virginia, as were his parents. Matilda and Louis were from Ohio. Henry worked as a contractor. He was a veteran of the World War, according to the census. The census also states that Henry was first married when he was 26 years old (i.e., in about 1919). Matilda was 29 when she first married (i.e. in about 1926). The Brieding family owned a radio set, as did many of their neighbors.

Henry F. Schumacher, age 74, retired farmer
of Lewisville Route 1died Thursday evening in
St. Francis Hospitial, Cambridge, following a
lengthy illness.
He was born April 28, 1878, near Woods-
field, a son of the late Frankand Caroline Tamme
Schumacher. His wife, Josephine Burkhart Schu-
macher, preceded him in death on June 21, 1946.
Surviving are a son, Charles Schumacher, of
Canton; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret H. Paumier,
of New York City; four brothers, Joseph F.Schu-
macher, of Woodsfield, Route 4; George T.
Schumacher, of Woodsfield;Simon and Nicholas
Schumacher, of Louisville, Stark County, and one
sister, Miss Clara Schumacher, of Woodsfield.
A Requiem High Mass will be solemnised Mon-
day morning at 9:30 o'clock, at St. Joseph's Church,
at Burkhart, with the Rev. Joseph C.Finan officiating.
Interment will be in the Chappel Hill cemetery with
the Schumacher Funeral Home in charge.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. HENRY
SCHUMACHER THIS MONDAY MORNING
Mrs. Josephine Schumacher, 76 of Lewisville,
Route 1, died Friday morning at her home follow-
ing an illness of six months.
Mrs. Schumacher was a lifelong resident of
Monroe County and was adaughter of Theobald
and Katherine Burkhart.
Surviving are her husband, Henry Schumacher;
and two brothers, Conrad Burkhart and Aloys Burk-
hart, both of Lewisville, Route 1.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 o'clock this
Monday morning at St.Joseph's Church, Burkhart,
with her pastor, Rev. Joseph Finan, Rev. J. J. Don-
aldson, of Berne, and Rev. Stephen J. Pekalla, of
Caldwell,officiating. Burial was in the Chapel Hill
cemetery with the Brubachfuneral home of Sum-
smerfield, in charge.
