Henry B. Elston

In 1930, 26 year old farmer Henry B. Elston lived with his wife Louise (24) in a home they rented in Center Twp., Cedar Co., Iowa. Based on census data, they had been married of about 3 years. Both Henry and Louise were born in Iowa as were their mothers. Henry's father was born in Wisconsin and Louise's father in Ohio. They owned a radio set.

The following wedding announcement for H.B. Elston and Louise Crock appeared in The Iowa City (IA) Press Citizen newspaper on November 26, 1926:
ELSTON-CROCK
Wednesday, November 24th, at St. Mary's church of Tipton, occurred the marriage of Miss Louise Crock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Crock of Tipton, to Mr. H.B. Elston, son of Mrs. Nettie Elston of Iowa city.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Crock, brother and sister-in-law of the bride acted as their attendants. the wedding march was played by Miss Agnes Gibbons and the nuptial music sung by Miss Agnes Earl and Mrs. John Reid. The bride was becomingly attired in a gown of blue georgette trimmed with silver. She wore a bridal veil and carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and baby breath. the matron of honor wore orchid georgette trimmed with cream colored rosettes, and carried a bouquet of orchid baby chrysanthemums and baby breath.
Mrs. Elston is a graduate of St. Joseph's School of Rock Island, Ill., and also of the commercial department there. Mr. Elston is a graduate of the West Branch high school and also attended Iowa Wesleyan College of Mt. Pleasant.
Guests at the wedding and the dinner which followed were Rev. Joseph L. Hellar, Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Crock and family, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Schroder and Miss Lucile Wethington of Tipton, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Crock of Mechanicsville, Miss Margaret Devaney and Miss Anna Emerson of Rock Island, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Kelly of Iowa City.

Louis M. Crock

In 1930, farmer Louis Crock (24) lived on a rented farm in Red Oak Twp., Cedar Co., Iowa with his wife Mildred E. (22) and their daughter Patricia (7 mos.). Louis as well as his parents was born in Ohio while Mildred and Patricia were born in Iowa. Mildred's parents were born in Ireland. Louis was 22 at the time of his first marriage, presumably to Mildred who was 20 when they married. The family owned a radio. Louis' father William lived on the adjacent farm.

MISS CROCK WEDS MR. RITTENMEYER
Couple United Here In Church Ceremony
Miss Marjory M. Crock, granddaughter of Mr. and
Mrs. William Crock, 421 South Lucas street, was married
December 22 to Mr. Ted M. Rittenmeyer, son of Mrs. Bess
L. Rittenmeyer, 714 East Fairchild street.
The wedding took place in St. Mary’s church with
the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Carl H. Meinberg officiating at the double
ring ceremony.
Duchess Satin
The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Mr.
Louis R. Crock. She wore a gown of duchess satin styled
with a round yoke trimmed in seed pearls. The long sleeves
ended in points at the wrists and the skirt was styled with a
junior train. The beide wore a fingertip veil and carried red
roses and white carnations.
Miss Lois Mulherin, a cousin of the bride, was maid
of honor and wore orchid marquisette. She carried white car-
nations.
Attendants
Mr. Kenneth Rittenmeyer, a brother of the bridegroom,
was best man. Flower girl was Marilyn Mulherin, the bride’s
cousin, who wore a powder blue gown and carried a basket of
white flowers. Gary D. Rittenmeyer, the bridegroom’s nephew,
was ring bearer.
Music
Miss Zita Fuhrman was at the organ and Mr. Robert
Bott sand “Ave Veruni,” “O Lord I Am Not Worthy,” and “On This
Day O Beautiful Mother.”
A wedding breakfast for the bridal party and immediate
families followed the ceremony.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Rittenmeyer were graduated from St.
Mary’s High school and attended Iowa City Commercial college.
Mr. Rittenmeyer is serving with the U.S. navy and Mrs. Ritten-
meyer has been enrolled in Paris academy, Cedar Rapids.
