Raphael H. Warner

In 1930, 19 year old R. H. Warner lived with his widowed mother and siblings on the family farm in Stock Twp., Noble County, Ohio. He was employed as an auto mechanic.

In the "News Notes From Berne" section of The Zanesville Times Recorder (pg 9) on 3 Oct 1946:
Raphael Warner visited his mother, Mrs. Ida Warner here last Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Raphael Warner and children, Gerry and Gloria Lee, of 1519 Indiana
street and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Porter and son, Randy, of Dryden road have returned
home from a visit at Akron, Holmesville and Smithville.

Mrs. Lewis Swick of Berne has returned home after a visit with her sister, Mrs.
Raphael Warner of Indiana street.

Raphael Warner was a resident of Zanesville. He was married at the time of his death.


Lucille C. Swick

Mrs. Raphael Warner and daughter, 1063 Putnam avenue [Zanesville]
are visiting the former's father and brother, Tom and Lewis Swick in Berne.

BERNE, O. -- Mr. Lewis Swick spent Sunday with his sister, Lucille
Warner and family of Zanesville.

Obituary from the Zanesville Times Recorder, 20 Apr 2006:
ZANESVILLE - Lucille Swick Warner died at 5:02 a.m. Wednesday,
April 19, 2006, at the Select Specialty Hospital, Zanesville. She was
born Sept. 29, 1912, in Berne, Noble County, to the late Thomas Swick
and Audrey Thompson Swick. She grew up with her younger siblings,
Grace, Lewis and Dana. Their mother died in 1931, the year Lucille
graduated from Summerfield High School. She worked in the cafeteria
at Zanesville High School and as a cashier at Zakany's Foodtown.
Surviving are a son, Gary Warner and wife Zella of Zanesville; a
daughter, Gloria King Poynter and husband Norman of Chattanooga,
Tenn.; five grandchildren, Michelle King Lautanen, of El Segundo,
Calif., Brian King of Ponte Verda, Fla., Jody King Rudisill of Chatta-
nooga, Tenn., and Dana Warner and Debbie Warner Stemm, both
of Zanesville. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Alec and
Emma Lautanen Walker, Nathaniel, Samuel and Meredith King, JB
and Lindsay Rudisill, Kelsey Stemm and Brittnee and Brandon Warner.
Very caring friends, Elizabeth Fisher, Helen Horton, Herbert Jones,
Gene Moore and personnel at the Muskingum County Center for
Seniors have helped Lucille remain in her home. She considered
Dr. Bruce Merwin a remarkable doctor and a dear friend.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2006,
at the Brighton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Mary Gene Boteler
officiating. Burial will be in Berne Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to the Muskingum County Center
for Seniors. All funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bolin-
Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave.


Arthur Fred Crum

On 12 Sep 1918, Arthur Fred Crum of #2 Summerfield, Noble County, Ohio filled out a US Draft Registration card. He stated that his birthdate was July 20, 1899, and that he was a farmer working for his father. (His father's name was not given.) His next of kin was listed as Bernice Crum of the same address. Arthur was described as being short and stout with brown eyes and light hair, and no obvious physicial disabilities.

At the time of the 1920 census, 20 year old Arthur Crum owned a mortgaged farm in Stock Twp., Noble County, Ohio. Living in the household with Arthur were his wife Bernice (19) and son Clyde L. (1 yr 5 mos). Arthur was a native of Kansas. His wife and son were born in Ohio, as were Arthur's parents.

In 1930, Arthur F. Crum (30) and his wife Bernice (29) rented a house for $25 a month at 594 Sharon Ave., Zanesville, Muskingum County, Ohio, where they lived with their children Clyde (11), Elizabeth (9), Margaret (7), and Virginia (4 yrs 5 mos). The oldest three children attended school. Arthur was a stationary engineer. His parents were born in Ohio.

Arthur F. Crum was a widower at the time of his death. His Social Security number was issued in Pennsylvania prior to 1951.


Bernice Forshey

Bernice's parents were born in Ohio.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kohut Jr. of Caldwell Rt. 6 spent Sunday night at the home of the latter's mother, Bernice Crum.

The following note appeared in the Zanesville Times Recorder on 11 Aug 1950:
BERNE -- Bernice Crum spent Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wilmer Watson of Summerfield RFD.

POST OFFICE TO CLOSE
CALDWELL -- Patrons of the post office at Berne will receive their mail on Caldwell Route 1 following the closing of the office on Wednesday, it was announced by Woodrow Cecil, Caldwell postmaster. The Berne office was ordered closed shortly after the death of Mrs. Bernice Crum, postmaster.


Clyde L. Crum

Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Crum and son Harvey, and Arthur Crum, of McKeesport, Pa, visited during the weekend at the home of Bernice Crum.
