Miriam C. Michel

Miriam Schillig's obituary appeared in the Canton Repository on Dec. 11, 2008

Miriam C. "Mimi" Schillig, a long time resident of Gahanna, died Tuesday December 9, 2008 at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor in Columbus, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Miriam was born in Harrisburg, lived with her husband Robert in Maximo from 1952-1966 at which time they moved to Gahanna. She is the former owner of Convenient Food Mart and Convenient Dry Cleaners. A long time active member of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church , where she was awarded the "Outstanding Church Worker" by the Citizen Journal in 1971.
Miriam is survived by her husband of 56 years Robert F. Schillig, sons: Ed (Nancy) Schillig, Mark (Becky) Schillig, Ken Schillig, daughters: Beth Schillig, Rose (Jeff) Routte, Debbie (Bill) Kittel and Nancy (Rick) Skeen, 15 grandchildren, six great- grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 11 am-1 pm, Monday December 15, 2008 at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor 5199 East Broad Street. Private family interment. Virgil Louis Michel

Virgil L. "Butch" Michel, age 86 of Louisville, passed away Friday September 5, 2008 in Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness. Butch was born October 14, 1921 in Marlboro Township to the late Carl and Lillian (Frank) Michel. He proudly served his country during WWII in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Isherwood.
Butch was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg, the Catholic Order of Foresters and V.F.W. Post #1036 in Alliance. He was the founder and president of V.L. Michel and Sons Construction. His hobbies included woodworking, gardening and reading. He enjoyed the outdoors and playing cards with family and friends. Butch was a longtime friend of Dr. Bob and Bill Wilson.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary C. "Mickey" Michel whom he married February 1, 1958; daughters, Mary Lynn (David) Moore of Louisville and Melinda Michel of Alliance; sons, Michael E. Michel of Louisville and Kevin J. Michel of Dublin; sister, Miriam Schillig of Columbus; brothers, Richard of Louisville, Robert of Berea, Charles of North Canton, Terrence of Louisville and Mark of Canton; and grandchildren, Kayla Catherine and Ashley Nicole Moore, and Catherine Marie, Jillian Renee and Matthew Dietrich Michel.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Jane Cuenot and brothers, Theodore, Bernard, Norbert, Thomas and Vincent.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg with Rev. Fr. Howard Ziemba officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Butch's family will receive friends Monday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville.
