Thomas V. Michel, age 78 of Carrollton, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2007 in the Great Trail Care Center in Minerva following an extended illness. Tom was a retired carpenter, an avid gardener and Army veteran of the Korean War. He loved playing cards and was well known for his practical jokes. Tom was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel in Akron.
Tom is survived by his devoted wife, Lucille (Haren) Michel; daughters, Julie (Monte) Lane of Minerva, Janet Michel of Akron, Karen (Dan) Crookston of Clinton and Nancy (Raymond) Gallegos of Colorado; sons, Lee (Debbie) Michel of Carrollton, James Michel of Florida, Paul (Lori) Michel of Texas and Tom (DeeDee) Michel of Carrollton; sister, Miriam Schillig of Columbus; brothers, Virgil of Harrisburg, Richard of Louisville, Bob of Massillon, Charles of N. Canton, Terry of Louisville and Mark of Canton; eighteen grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a sister, Jane Cuenot and brothers, Ted, Bernard, Norbert and Vincent.
A Requiem High Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel in Akron with Rev. Fr. Leo Carley officiating. Interment will be in St. Louis Cemetery in Louisville. Tom's family will receive friends Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville where a Rosary Service will be held at 5:00 p.m.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas V. Michel of Carrollton will celebrate their 50thanniversary Saturday with an open house at St. Gabriel Church in Minerva.The open house is given by their children, Julie Lane, Lee Michel, JimMichel, Paul Michel, Tom Michel, Janet Michel, Karen Crookston and NancyGallegos, and their spouses. The former Lucille Haren and her husband were married Oct. 5, 1952, in St.Louis Catholic Church in Louisville. They attend Immaculate Heart of Mary. There are 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Michel is a retired construction worker.

Betty L. Michel, age 67, of Canton, died Sunday in Aultman Hospital
after an extended illness. She was a life resident of Canton and was a 1950
graduate of Lincoln High School. Betty was a member of St. Paul's Catholic
Church in North Canton.
Survived by her husband, Robert L. Michel; a daughter and son-in-law,
Colleen and Frank Gazzillo of Strongsville, OH; four sons and three daughters-
in-law, Robert and Christi Michel of Berthoud, CO, William and Dr. Debra
Michel of Phoenix, AZ, David Michel and Daniel and Heidi Michel, all of
Canton; a sister, Donna Griffin of Canton; 11 grandchildren. Preceded in death
by her parents, Vincent and Florence Griffin; two brothers, Donald and Ray-
mond Griffin; a sister, Patty Preusser.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul's Catholic
Church in North Canton with Fr. Joseph S. Rudjak as celebrant. Burial will be in
North Canton Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the
Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alz-
heimer's Assoc.

Gerald A. Romary, age 84, of Canton, died Tuesday in Aultman Hospital aftera long illness. Born and raised in Canton, he was 1936 graduate of McKinleyHigh School. He was a former resident of Louisville and served as the Mayorof Louisville from 1952-1954. In 1968 he moved to Alabama where he was theGeneral Manager of the Southern Manufacturing Division of the Union MetalManufacturing Co. in Sylacauga, AL. In 1978 he retired from Union Metal andmoved back to Canton in 1991. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He was amember of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a former member of St. LouisParish in Louisville, a life member and a past Grand Knight of theLouisville K. of C., a member of the Msgr. Graham Assembly 4th Degree of K.of C., a life member of the Louisville Eagles, a past president of theCatholic Men's Luncheon Club, a past president of the Catholic CommunityLeague Board, a past member of the Louisville and Canton Rotary Clubs, and aformer board member of the Louisville Library Board. Survived by his wife of64 years, Lucille M. (Upperman) Romary; three daughters and two sons-in-law,Suzanne Moulin of Sylacauga, AL., Charlene and Mark Michel of Canton, andYvonne and Patrick Willaman of Canton; three sons and daughters-in-law,Gerald A. II and Carol Romary of Canton, Thomas and Carol Lynne Romary ofOldsmar, FL., and Mark and Mary Romary of Palm Harbor, FL; 14 grandchildrenand eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, August andLeona (Fallot) Romary; a son, James Romary; two brothers, Earl and EdmundRomary; and a son-in-law, John Moulin. Vincent Roger Michel, age 70, of 110 S. Grant Blvd., Minerva, died July 26, 2006. Born January 30, 1936, in Harrisburg, OH, the son of the late Carl J. and Lillian C. (Frank) Michel. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Charter Member Knights of Columbus Council #11380, and Carroll County Antique Collectors Club.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carilyn Ann (Bresson) Michel; sons, Carl (Lisa) of Robertsville and Brian (Kelli) Michel of Royal Oak, MI; daughters, Anita (Scott) Monk of Stockbridge, GA, Sharon (Randy) Bing and Carol Gartner of North Canton, Marie (Troy) Waugh and Brenda Michel of Minerva; sisters, Miriam Schillig of Columbus; brothers, Virgil, Richard and Terrence of Louisville, Thomas of Carrollton, Robert and Mark of Canton, Charles of North Canton; and nine grandchildren: Nicholas, Andrea, and Isaac Michel, Jason Monk, Kaylee, Lauren and Morgan Bing, Evan Waugh, Kevin Gartner. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Joseph; grandchildren, Todd Waugh and Nichole Monk; brothers, Theodore, Bernard and Norbert Michel.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church Saturday, July 29th., at 10 a.m. with Father Victor P. Cinson Jr. officiating. Calling hours will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 400 W. High St., Minerva, Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m, a Vigil service will be held at the church at 8:45 p.m.
Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery, Louisville, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Research in memory of Vince Michel, Ireland Cancer Center, P.O. Box 74947, Cleveland, OH 44101-9972.
Wedding anniversary announcement
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Michel of North Canton celebrated their 50thanniversary Jan. 19 with a dinner and celebration at the Canton Moose Lodge.The festivities were given by their children and their spouses, Jeff andMaria Michel, Jerry and Pam Michel, Larry and Sue Michel, Judy and KimFockler, Rick Michel, Debbie Christmas, Doug Michel, and Scott and HollyMichel. The former Gerry Hattie and her husband were married Jan. 19, 1952, in St.Joseph's Catholic Church of Canton. There are 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Michel retired from the Knoch Corp., where he was a partner. Mrs. Michel is
a homemaker.
